If we can do November, I think my friend still lives down there and he'd appreciate a visit. I'd have to see about making an arrangement and I'd only be able to do a weekend trip due to work scheduling.

If you would rather do December, we'd probably want to be pretty early since the passes can be sometimes iffy. I don't mind some snow, but I can't do much with white-outs. ;)

Pretty much any time should work with me mike. Just let me know like a week in advance. I've always got hoops bent and waiting for bumpers so its more a matter of you coming down here for me to weld one on. :)

Btw never got around to PMing you back but I think I'd go with the LF 170's if you want to run LF's. They're a really deep light though so just know they'll stick out off the front a bit.

I thought we just picked it up from the Fastenal hub? Does it have to be shipped after that too? Never dealt with Fastenal before... :notsure:

Congrats on getting closer though!! :D

They have regional hubs, and then it goes to the specific branch you request it sent to aka the store code you provide me with. :)

Got word back from my friend. I can do the weekend of the 6th or the 20th. What works? Too soon?

Trying to envision how it looks. wmflyfisher is in the middle of moving so I didn't get the pics (yes, I did PM the right person this time).
Are you thinking mount to bumper with offsets or mount to hoop?

I'm thinking 170 too. I ate pizza the other night so I'm going to cut up some cardboard mockups, lol.

Ok, question for everybody who has recieved and installed their bumper:

This includes you too eric ;).

How much of the bumper sticks out from the grill edge? My plan was to get 4 Kragen Hids and slap those on the front with the tabs I ordered from eric but I'm starting to question if they will fit since they are rather deep.

I'm about to just order them anyway (this sat) and deal with it when the time comes but if anybody has an answer or suggestions before hand it would be nice to avoid the returns and all the hassle. Thanks guys.

The top plate is only about 2.5" overall iirc, so the lights have to be shallow like hellas. However I do offer those brackets like on WMflyfisher's for mounting a deeper light. I think I ended up giving about 4" of depth possible with the bolt on light brackets(whatever I calculated was necessary for the hella 4000's).
BTW I only had 2 of the light mount brackets cut, do you want a set of 4? I can just get 2 more cut if you do.

Let me think those dates over a little bit and get back to you. The 6th may be pretty good for me.

As for light mounts, we can do either. Depends which you think would look best. Personally, I cant decide. Either the hoop will need to be angled forward quite a bit, or we'll need to cut some mounting brackets to bolt the light to that will then to bolt onto the bumper(like on flyfisher's).

I've been going through pics of other people who have deep lights, and some do the hoop, some do bumper, and some do it where the light sits slightly in front of the hoop.

I think might be the most helpful. He's running an AP bumper which is sorta similar dimensions. It might be that he took really nice pics, but I'm really digging what he's done.

mounted to bumper, but I think for me the tabs would have to face the other way
mounted to bar, sitting in front These are the larger 240's on an FJ AP bumper. I don't think I like the look as much.

By the way, if you think anything is not doable or will be highly detrimental, tell me now so I can rethink things.

And this is just too funny
