    When I managed Fleet, Ford changed from Gear oil to ATF. I asked my Ford rep why and he told me it was for better gear wear and break in and it also made gear noise lower. You also have the updated seals. We changed several from gear oil to ATF and had to change input and output seals to handle the ATF so it would not leak out. you should be good to go.
