You should try some LaminX protective film see if you can get those to last a bit longer. I have it on my daily and they are withstanding the test of time. last time I cleaned and re-clear coated my Headlights I got about a month before the went back to hazy and yellow

Super easy too, took maybe 6 or 7 minutes per side

Good to know, this is the first time I've successfully restored them so I definitely want it to last as long as possible

I finally got around to doing a headlight retrofit since I’m on a 7 on, 7 off COVID schedule. I bought used retrofitted headlights from @UnderFire about two months ago, tore out the projectors and shrouds, and tossed the housings.

In preparation to doing the retrofit, I purchased new 5500k bulbs, and D2S mounting hardware, and butyl rubber for resealing my OEM housings. It was really difficult to get a secure mount with the old hardware.

I personally don’t think projectors look better than the OEM reflectors, but the benefit of the light output and clarity is worth it in IMO. The projector headlights remind me of Sid from the animated Ice Age movies. Lol

Great looking truck. How hard is it to find parts for those?

Thats nice they are easy to get, would have thought being so old and only so many around it would be tough to source. I really like the older ones, and I'm starting to feel like 1 first gen isn't enough. Maybe a pickup or single cab will have to be added to my dc sometime this summer.

I like autozones way of doing in my area... i can have a part from san antonio delivered a couple hundred miles away to the store not even a mile from where i live at 9am

Most of the time san antonio orders come before store transfers from the same town with a lot more reliability

Well, sold my spare 98, and now going to move the frame from my 00 into the garage, box and bob it, move body mounts, and use it for the 01 double cab.

It’s only hard to find original Toyota parts for it. For example the alternator was discontinued from Toyota so I had to get the highest quality aftermarket one.

Finally got around to installing the D43XL add a leafs and axle relocation plates. I’ve always had a problem with the front of the rear tires rubbing and chewing up the fender flare when I go wheelin. I used the 3/4” position on the relocation plates and that worked out perfectly.

and yes, that is a full size 285/75/16 tucked under the bed.

Anyone have a suggestion for raising the e-brake cable so it doesn’t contact the leaf springs?

I made a set of these for myself and Mike @Digiratus, based on some that Dan @drr had on his truck. Worked great and are easy. Made of 1" angle, the total length is 2.5", and gets the cable up off the leafs. Hole next to the short side goes on the ebrake lever, with the short side pointed to rear of truck, ebrake cable connects to top hole.

Did you make that mount? I have mine mounted there but there is so little space with my charcoal canister.

EDIT: Just realized that's a paranoid fab mount.

Thanks @turbodb! I’ll have to pick up some 1” angle and get that knocked out while I still have time.

You running the regular ome ubolts with the dakars, aal, and relocation plate? Getting ready to update my rear end with the exact same setup and wanted to make sure they’re long enough for all that.
