still a bit better than going secondary for store pick bottles. Most I've seen go for 300-320. Which is why I own zero :bananadead::D

Hey y'all. I'm looking for a real smokey whiskey. What can you recommend? There was a local small-batch CO. that was putting out an amazing tequila a few years ago. It was aged in a barrel and tasted like I was sucking on burnt up logs from a bonfire. I LOVED it and want to find that in a good, warm whiskey.

You can buy a cheaper one.. and cold smoke it yourself.. ? Myself and a few others also smoke water (or ice depending on your method) and make smoked ice cubes

Islay Scotch is probably right up your alley. Ardbeg 10 is a great starter smoky whisky, Laphroaig 10 is a little more challenging but fantastic as well (both around 50 bucks). If you really want to start out lighter or cheaper then look for Coal Ila 12 year old or Johnnie Walker Double Black or Green. After you've tried some of these give Lagavulin 16 a shot (about 80-100 depending on where you live).

Correct me if I am way off base... but from a collecting point of view.. it could be a buyer's market with the current state of things... ? People needing money might part with their shiny things a little easier these coming days? Am I way off base here?

Potentially, but I'm not sure how much booze-ohol will figure into that. Seems like everybody could use a drink these days :notsure:

Right.. I'm not talking about the dailies... I'm talking more the collectibles.. and unfortunately the financial hardships that people are facing that might force them to dig out those bottles that haven't seen the light of day for 20 years to pay the light bill.

Could be. They'd probably be selling their collections in bulk, though, if that were to happen. I can't imagine they'd want to piecemeal stuff one bottle at a time.
