I'm just super sour grapes today. Looking forward to a 3-day weekend of being trapped in the house.

Hello everyone, don't post here much. Let alone since my Tacoma was defeated by a tag team match between black ice and a guard rail last year.

Anyways, I am looking for recommendations to a dealership where I can get myself into a new truck. I don't want to spend 6+ hours there playing fuck fuck games while subjecting myself to the black lung. Just straight to the point, discounts applied, in and out. Dream? Maybe, but still hopeful. Would appreciate any info or referrals.

Email all the dealers around and work the deal so you walk in sign and walk out.

That sucks. I dont have any recommendations which I why i suggested that. I'm not a fan of the dealer I went through but it was a fairly quick process. Maybe 2-3 hrs in and out. Also dont feel like a got a great deal but thats all my fault. I dont feel like I got a bad deal either but in hindsight I could have done better but was hooked/blinded by that new car feeling.

This is the way I just bought my 19 yr old a Toyota RAV4. It's not for everyone, but it's has worked for me several times. I did all the work from home and only spent 2-3 hours at the dealership signing papers.

    1. get preapproved. Call your Credit union (join one if you don't have one. it's much better than a bank). Figure out what you want to pay, and then add $5000 to it, and get a letter from them that you are approved for $xxxxx
    2. get online and find the EXACT thing you are looking for within 150 miles of you (cars.com and autotrader not the dealerships web site) so you know what a good deal is and what an OK deal is. Take notes. GOOD NOTES of all the cars and places that have the car that you want. Print out every ad with the names of the dealership and the cost right on it.
    3. Start the 2-3 day process from home on your laptop. DO NOT CALL THE PLACE OF YOUR #1 CHOICE,
    a. call the dealerships main phone, ask for the used car MGR (or lese mgr if new car). When you get them ask them to give you the name of their best sales person. Email them a low ball offer. repeat for all cars you have.
    b. reject every first offer you get. counter offer accordingly. Remember you now know what a GOOD deal is.
    c. When you get to the to the "that's the best I can do", say thank you, let me think about it. Make note of that figure.
    d. go back to your print outs, and mark your least favorite car with $1000 less than the other guys.
    4. Call the dealership of your favorite, get the sales MGR again, and say... I would like to come in and talk about stock #xxxxxx. Is it there on the lot right now? (you would be surprised how many bait and switch ads are out there).
    5. take your papers with you with all the names and numbers on the out side so he can see them at a glance. Remember to make the numbers and the dealership names bigger as he will be across the desk from you and he doesn't want to get caught looking at them.
    6. set an appt. he will have that car cleaned and up front ready for a test drive.

get there and offer him the $1000 lower price that you established from the other place and say its between his and this one, and make sure he sees the $1000 lower price. Tell him you are pre approved and its just a matter of agreeing on a price, and you don't want to be there all day.

be prepared to walk if it doesn't work, but all but 2 times it has worked for me. The 2 times it didn't work I got them down within $500 and they matched or beat the interest from the credit union.

I drove 3.5 hours for the best price.. ive had great luck with buying vehicles out of state so if u dont mind the drive there are good deals to be had everywhere..

Focus on the “must haves“ not “must-wants” and dont budge because u dont want to wish you had a specific feature, color, or option..

I wanted a double cab, long bed, offroad in quicksand or cement and i found it at the price i wanted
