    I live in so Ca.
Nothing crazy I’ve been before. Nothing extreme DH. Just entry level hard tail probably.
Found that Jamis for 550 used.

Well if you were a weird fork hater, Trust Performance just closed its doors, and very likely wont resume.

im in so cal too, the problem with the bike you listed is that it includes nothing about spec. Just says what is new. That’s fine, but if he wants 550- he should list spec.

the bike is 8 years old, supposedly. Not sure if I totally agree with the age but regardless, it is outdated and you wouldn’t be able to upgrade much. Wheel spacing may be narrow, steerer tube is straight and not tapered, wheels/fork are nameless.

I’d look for something else personally. Did you check Pinkbike?

There are entry level bikes for many different categories of biking? What type of riding do you like to do? Are you into getting as many miles as you can and timing yourself? (get a hardtail) Do you like to hit small jumps or ride down technical features? (get a trail or enduro full suspension) Also what is your budget?

Personally, I would stay away from Jamis.

Can't say we didn't see that coming. Sucks for people who "bought into the idea" and will likely never have customer service again.

Everyone tightening their belt, and Trust was a hella small company to begin with. Cashflow is the lifeblood of a company.

They actually trained a bike shop here in SLC how to do their service and I assume they have a fair stock of spare parts. But if you're elsewhere in the USA, it could be tough. Small company like Trust just couldnt weather a storm like this one.

yeah I wasn’t sure but the consensus seems to be to stay away from the jamis. Will do.
I have not checked pink bike. I’ll have to look into that.

I’ve done a few trails around SoCal on a friends spare hard tail and I think I’ll probably go that route. Went DH at big bear and while it was fun it wasn’t for me. I’m not looking for DH or full suspension bike I don’t think I’ll need it.
I’m trying to stay below $1000 considering I’m just testing the waters and will need almost all the gear.
Hoping I could get something used from someone who decided it wasn’t for them and save some money.

definitely look in to Pinkbike. They have a huge classified section. You should also have a good idea of what you want and the size you need. Where in SoCal do you live and where do you plan on riding, and how tall are you? I can try to help you get some criteria set.

I always thought they would’ve built themselves to be a niche company, I figured they would’ve planned to operate in low sales numbers. I think they were on to something in their design, but their price point was so much higher than what is standard, maybe if they made an aluminum or magnesium version, they could’ve sold more units.

I live in the hollywood area. But am willing to drive a bit to spots obviously. More now that I am on vacation.
    I am 6 foot 185-200 lbs.
my specialized road bike is a 56 but might try a 58 for the next one.
I’m thinking basic dirt roads. No real jumping. I rode a specialized hard rock I think it was, their 450-550 entry hardtail and it was nice.

Looks like a real sharp bike but I feel like medium might be a bit small for me. How tall are you.

yea. It’s way too small for you. Didn’t see how tall you were until after I posted.

I say the bike is good for 5’6” to 5’8”.
