I'd love to find a clean, original super sport center console from the 80's with a 70hp Yamaha on it.

Not sure... been looking at ARB because I’ve seen a lot of them and they seem to hold up well. Wynter seems a bit cheaper but don’t know how it would hold up. Dometic fridges look good too. Itd be used in my truck, in the garage, and maybe on the boat too

My co worker has his dads old center console with an inboard motor that doesn’t run. It’s a Sea Arrow out of Texas and has a V8. Trying to work on it this summer.

Like others have said, Go with Raid 0 and put your OS on a SSD. If you build your raid in the BIOS, it should be able to swap with your OS fairly straight forward. Linux can also read in every drive format that windows operates in. If you use windows to create your Raid, you'll have to do some SUDO-fu in Linux to access the Raid. Dual boot Linux with Windows (as in: install Linux first for the boot loader, then Windows) to check your raid setup before you commit with important files that become unrecoverable once you fully run Linux. I run Ubuntu as my primary OS as it's the easiest for a windows user to transition over to and I haven't looked back. If you're a power user, then you probably wouldn't be asking us for assistance, heh. It's been a looong time since I built a PC, but my WD drives came with a setup disk utility that could create hardware Raids pre OS install. If your drives didn't, check out something like a Raid manager or Drive manager. I did a quick search but nothing was peaking my memory (from 20 years ago, mind you .. :puke:) Everything was turning up "for Windows"

Maybe I'm mistaken and you can only do this from your BIOS. Do that first, set your raid up in your BIOS, don't use any software Raid config shit through windows.

My sudo-fu is on par, just haven't used raid, especially trying to jump it between os's. I'm trying to use what I have until I build out a new rig. As said a couple times, OS is already on a seperate drive from the data raid I want to build. I think mobo raid is out because if the mobo dies or I swap platforms the raid is basically scrapped. FakeRAID might be the best option unless I want to use some sudo-fu with mdadm or the like after the switch to Linux. When I actually do the swap to Linux I'll usb boot it to make sure I can get things to work before I wipe out Win10.

Thats the risk we take with Raid arrays. You already mentioned earlier that you have an offsite backup for your data I believe. If you dont, you might want to look into Raid 10. It's a hybrid of Raid 0 (striping) and Raid 1 (mirroring). Basically, you'd I/O out of your Raid 0 drives and pair your data with a backup drive, albeit much larger drive requirements. That way, in the event you loose a Raid 0 drive, you have backup from your mirrored drive and vise versa. You can config auto backups to occur at set intervals to ensure you have an up-to-date backup similarly as you would save to the cloud. I cant remember exactly if, in the event your mobo dies, if you could swap the HDD's to a new mobo using the same numbered SATA ports if its the same chipset. Maybe that's asking too much, like I said prior, I've been out of the building game for 20 some odd years. Architecture and form factor have probably changed a bit since the early 2000's.
