The Millermatic 211 would be a good overall learning machine. The other units get higher end needing more accessories to use. The bobcat would be ideal if you needed to use it as a generator as well.

Thing is for the last several years if your not a regular with an account at Airgas you will be quoted list price on everything .

Then with the SAP system it takes the act of several Gods to change prices in the old days any of the counter people could do it no problem

The prices I see walk in customers pay is enough to make me walk away from the counter in shock at times.

Then prices and polices can vary so much it seems on any given day.

For awhile it got so strict no distributor would swap any cylinders but there own they would send them to the fill plant but there cylinders had priority so it could be easily a month or longer.

Define pipe skills Process pipe or pipeline type pipe??

Just what processes do you want to use ?

The selection your quoting is like saying I want a Economy car a mid range 4 door a sports car and a 4x4 truck all will get from point A to point B just in a different manor .

All are good machines in the niche they are made for .

I made this cart for our tig/stick welder at work about 15 years ago. Used some pvc pipe for filler wire holders. It rarely moves. The rods are in an old broken small refrigerator to keep them dry.

A plasma cutter or a Tig Machine it really does not matter because your never fighting trying to keep a liner in the straightest line possible.

So many build Mig Machines carts having the machine sit 25" to 36" off the ground have the gun do a steep drop lay on the ground then rise up to work on the bench or even up under a truck.

So many self created feed issues that is not a warranty problem.

When I used a Lincoln SP-125 I had the cylinder on a Hand truck the welder on a cart just high enough off the ground a 1" maybe 2"

I put a 15’ lead on our millermatic 250 at work years ago and had to put this piece of wire on it to help it from kinking.

I need some help with welders.

My neighbor has 2 unusual welders, they run off your alternator and were made by Interstate Industries. One is new, the other was installed on a service vehicle as a demo. The neighbor sold them new and these 2 are leftovers. He has since died and I am helping his widow dispose of some stuff.

Size wise they are about 12 inches by 6 inches by say 4 inches, they are made to fit in the engine compartment or say in your cab. They require a 150 amp alternator.

Ever heard of something like this and where can you sell them? This is the new one.

I'm not a welder, so know nothing about it.

You can learn so much in here. I've learned a lot but the two things that stand out the most are.....

    #1-I suck as a welder
    #2-Keep trying

I was born with only 1 working eye, decided not to play with welders so I wouldn't end up with a dog. My 2 brothers weld, 10 years apart they burned down Dad's garage while welding on old cars on an old concrete floor covered in old grease. His 3rd garage had a metal liner on walls and ceiling.

Now that's cool. I've seen stuff like that on serious trail rigs, where they have to weld stuff back together just to get back to camp.

And will you ever need to move it? One machine on there weighs 50lbs, another 500.

First brother was welding on a Porsche 914, burnt the garage to the ground. It was rebuilt and 10 years later, the second brother had one go up in smoke. In both cases they were welding underneath on the floor and the cars caught fire. By the time they discovered the fire, it was too late to put it out. Lightning strikes twice sometimes.

I've started a little personal welding job, not big at all and need a piece of 2 1/2" square tubing X 1/4" wall X 17" long. Had my boss call a supply place that sells any length and they said $50. Called a place that only sells 20 footers, $82. No thanks on either one, I'll find a piece sometime.
