Absolutely agree would never even consider putting my guys in the bed hell my yellow lab rides shotgun and the gf gets the backseat with the black lab. My yellow knows it he sits up there with his head high eyeing the gf like yeah I’m his favorite. He is.

Sounds like we grew up together, other than the dog part there at the end.

We didn't have seatbelts, we didn't have car seats. Times have changed.

I think you’re missing the point. Putting any living thing in the back of a truck going down the public roads and highway is a dangerous thing. The county I live in has hundred of thousands accidents a year (fender benders, etc). 10k fatalities a year from these accidents. Any impact with a living thing in the truck bed is most certainly going to cause great bodily harm or death.

Agreed my dogs are pretty well trained but this is my first truck and my aussie loves squirrels and any and all training goes out the window. I'm thinking the chain might be a good option while I work on his training.

I get it. Your point is perfectly reasonable and rational. Your statement just triggered the memories I mentioned. I am always trying to balance prudence and being wreckless. No offence intended.

Not to be rude, but making up facts to support your stance is lame. 10k fatalities a year in your county?Screenshot_20200403-094342_Chrome.jpg

I read my source wrong, there were 3500 fatalities and 10k serious injuries for the year cited. Thanks for correcting my mistake.

I am thankful every day I had a great childhood. I tie up my dogs to protect them from Darwin. Unfortunately, both are pretty stupid. My old dog, did great in the back without anything.

Possible, or just ignorant. I'm a boomer and grew up with no seatbelts, riding in back of the truck at highway speeds, etc. Now I always wear my seatbelt, and my dog is in a crate which is strapped down in the bed of the truck. It's called "common sense".

I've seen small dogs ride in a dog bed on the dashboard.
