If you're gonna weigh up the front anytime soon, go 888... if not, 887... springs alone are cheap enough that you can swap later down the road... and easy enough to swap out

The 887 and the 888 have the same spring rate but differ in length according to this site, so I expect them to be equally "stiff", but the 888 will provide slightly more lift because it is longer. YMMV.

    • OME 883: 375mm in height, 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 884: 390mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 885: 395mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 886: 402mm in height 660 pound spring rate
    • OME 887: 400mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 888: 405mm in height 590 pound spring rate

All chrome removed, TRD Pro grill, All-Pro Apex sliders, ARB twin compressor with Slee mount. SSO slimline bumper with Smittybilt X20, Softopper
IMG_0328.jpg I went with the 888, Dakar medium full rear packs, and the OME soft ride shocks from Headstrong, on my 2017 Off Road. I had them add the 1/4 spacer on the drivers side. Have a SSO bumper and a Smittybuilt X20 and All-Pro Apex sliders on the truck. Lifted the front 2 1/4 in the front. I feel the ride is much better than stock, more controlled less bounce. No noticeable sag. Have over 20,000 miles on the set up in the last two years. If you decide to buy, couldn't recommend Headstrong enough, great service.

Per Bilstein you will loose the warranty if used with an aftermarket spring.

FWIW....we don't claim to know everything, we just do our best to assist our customers based on our years of experience with physically handling the products and extensive customer feedback. We carry a variety of brands and go over the pros and cons of each with our customers so they can get the kit that will best suit their overall needs. FYI Bilstein warranty claims are handle directly with the retailer and we have not had an issue processing a legitimate warranty claim. ARB also has a warranty on their coils so should someone feel as if their coils are wearing in improperly they can contact them directly for assistance.

Side note, keep in mind manufactures like Fox, King, Bilstein with their 6112's and 8112's, all use a 600lb spring rate coil on their OE replacement products. There is much more to a coil then just it's spring rate.

I decided on 888, soft ride Nitrochargers, 1/4 top spacer x2, spc uca, ECGC bushing, med Dakar with a ubolt flip. Marie was great to work with and it’s all been shipped. I’ll have some feedback on the setup after it’s installed.

I had mild rubbing, no cmc yet, had to cut the plastic. Have noticed the front springs have settled a bit, might get front spacers.

How are you liking your 888s? OME shocks or Bilsteins? How much lift have they settled in at? Any vibes or issues you had to deal with? Sorry for all of the questions. Truck looks great.

Sounds like a good choice. Could you elaborate more on what the U-bolt flip is/does and what is needed? I’m assuming it’s for additional clearance?

There are a couple of different threads on here re the u-bolt flip, and several kits you can shop. You are basically moving the bottom plate and u-bolt ends to the top of the axle. I like that some really nice bump stop options become available when you do it. Most people look at Wheelers Superbumps or Timbren, but there are others good options, too. It’s not really much extra work if you’re changing the leafs anyway so I decided to try it.

Thank you! That’s interesting. I’ll investigate it a bit more.

I like the 888's, kinda stiffer then TRD OffRoad suspension but any upgraded suspension is gonna be stiffer. its not too stiff, but firmer. The springs are settling. a lot.
When I first did the install and alignment i had zero rub. i was fucking thrilled. but as the front springs started to settle, i started rubbing while backing up and turning. It got worse throughout the week, I had to trim the plastic by the cab mount.
Things went back to perfect and zero issues, for about another week. Just in the past 2 days I have noticed Im rubbing on the cab mount while backing up on a hill while turning. doesnt happen all the time but im sure in a week or so it will rub more as the springs settle more. I plan on getting spacers for the front to help with the droop. It looks like I have massive rake right now on the truck. Ya i know its dumb to put cheap spacers on your $2k+ suspension, but thats where im at. because they are not coilovers i dont have the options to do much. I knew they would settle, but not this much.

OME Softride Nitroshocks. Did the carrier spacer drop that came with the kit. Mild vibes while slowing down to 20mph, but very mild.
ask as many questions as you want. your about to drop a lot of money on something so I dont know anyone that would flame you for asking something.

I always hear about the OME springs sagging and have gravitated toward buying dobinson instead

Thank you, so much, for taking the time to provide that information. Could you tell me how much initial lift your 888s provided and how much lift you have now? Do you think you still have at least 2.5” of lift? I would’ve already pulled the trigger on my lift, but I keep getting hung up on these reports of excessive sagging. Yesterday, I spoke for quite a while with @HeadStrong Off-Road they helped put some of my concerns to rest, but I’m still just a bit hesitant. I think I just need to quit overthinking it and order my 887s or 888s.

I feel you bro. A lot goes into lifting these trucks. I wish I started researching first. I learned as I went , No ones perfect right. I started off with a spacer lift Lol!! I know what a jackass. LOL. Learned a lot from members and company’s on here that know there shit. True Pro’s to the game. Learned and went with 5100’s set 4th 1.5” up front and the wheelers aal 1.5” in back wanted to maintain rake. Ride is awesome. Good luck with your build. Can’t wait to see it lifted

I’ve had my 5100/888 set up for about a year now.

After I installed I measured around 23 3/4 from hub to fender and it’s settled to around 23 hub to fender.

After settle I got about 2 inches of lift out of it. I’m planning on moving to a stiffer spring set up with the 886 coils to bring it back up eventually.

The ride is fine though, no complaints.

    Nope,

I’m moving to the 886 to avoid settling. Ome are fairly soft springs and I’m willing to deal with a slightly firmer ride to avoid coils settling like they did.
