I actually agree with that logic! Especially the shooting guns part! Like I said, my friend is taking me shooting once the coronavirus clears up!

How are things in your neck of the woods?

Things are getting tight. Every time I wake up we have an alarming death rate.

Glad we live on acreage. My daughter found out she can ride my Santa Cruz Tall Boy so she has been enjoying that. Now she wants one.

    Before; A few days before...

My neighbor and I had the dashboard out and he tested everything for the subwoofer, to the amp, to the back of the head unit, to the battery and the alternator with his voltmeter; Everything tested normal and he is positive it’s the head unit.

I thought you said the subwoofer and the speaker amp were separate?

protection means a power issue not a signal issue. I thought you said the sub keeps kicking when the other audio cuts out?

If you’re so sure it’s the head unit why are you asking for advice?

The sub does keep kicking when the power cuts out. My neighbor is sure it’s the head unit; I’m not...

The subwoofer has it’s own built-in amp and the Rockford Fosgate, which is what is going into protection, is what powers the speakers.

I have a 2008 Giant Boulder SE, but I got my learner’s permit (and the Taco) like a year and a half later, and I have ridden my bike regularly since 2009; the last time I really rode it was 2012.

The Rockford amp is bad or has bad wiring connections. You can verify this by connecting any old speaker with speaker wire straight to the HU. If you get sound then you need to troubleshoot the amp.

That’s the plan for tomorrow; I hope it’s the amp because that’s only $96 while the the HU is $280...

Check the ground and voltage at the Rockford amp. Then if possible get a DMM and meter, disconnect the speaker leads to the amp and ohm them out to confirm a coil isn’t bad in one of them triggering the amp to go into protection. Post some pics of the amp and grounding point if possible

Is the grounding point where the wire attaches to the amp?

Sounds like a pretty sweet bike! Ever think about throwing it in the Tacoma and finding some trails?

Yeah, definitely! But I think it needs new tubes because the tires won’t hold air for very long...
