Spreadsheet for basic tracking. Brokerage statements give the detail each period.

Though outside of this recent period of volatility I'm not normally an active trader.

My brokerage does that, it separates them on the website and the tax documents. There's no way I could ever figure all of that out.

they'll net it all up for you with your tax statements.

watch your interim statements so you have a prediction of your tax liability and don't get an ugly surprise.

If you have dividend paying stocks, you find out about qualified dividends vs. ordinary dividends vs. some other category that is even higher (probably my REITs).

It’s better to have friends with boats than a boat.

if it flies, floats, or screws...cheaper to rent than buy.

I think ccl and nclh are safe bets right now. There are some smaller ones I’d be worried about. And companies that have a poor business model that are still around for some unknown reason (GameStop).

oh if I get a boat I’d be in less than 10k for it plus my own repairs. I’ve though about it. I’d want one that has a cabin for me, wife, and dog, and enclosed/indoor captains chair and seating. But right now it’s a pipe dream and I know how silly it would be to buy a boat.

maybe if we move to a lake front house I’d get something smaller than my “want” listed above since it would just be out to scoot around the lake.

Most of the index funds pay dividends though.
I would've thought they'd be right up your alley.

My dad had one of those. Great to throw into a pond to get into some unreachable spots. Also light enough to toss around

So who else thinks oil will drop below 10 bucks Monday after the opec meeting fails and Russia won't back down?

if I liked fish more I’d be convinced of a kayak. I like fishing but I don’t eat much fish. I like horn pout but that’s a night time gig without a boat usually. That’s easier to do when you’re lake front. We aren’t anymore so...

Cant take it with you when you die! We’re kind of up in the air about moving south for the warmer weather now. So no big purchases I mean hell not even kayaks, why would we buy two kayaks to have to handle moving in a year instead of just wait?

one can hope with 20mpg. If that happens I might be driven to break my rules and invest some before the truck is paid off.
