Part of me tells me the 4 runner j shift has progressive springs cause it starts off hard becomes easy and almost slips itself into 4x4 or low range

But the tacoma wasnt as satisfying to just sit there and shift

theyre the same exact case as the taco.
i have a 4runner j shift and taco j shift. they feel exactly the same. one has 120k the other 240k both super tight and notchy.

No, that's just the extra effort to move the synchro ring and once it lines up it get easier.

It's been too long since I put the 99s new transfer case in. Don't remember if there was a bushing like the manual trans shift lever has.

I took the little snap ring thing out of mine and just pulled the shifter out and other than how it was fixed in the case seemed very similar to the mt shifter on my buddies truck

Saw a thread pop up, where Ryan and I advised someone not to buy a certain shock.

Months later, he posts that he bought it anyway, claiming its too short and maxing out

We said that 5 months ago:rofl:

I know 4th gen 4runners benefit from a different vehicle's springs for a lift in the rear....unsure for 3rd gens

Why not leaf spring the rear?

    Long travel ftw

80 series front springs work in the rear of 3rd gens perfect diameter and ~3.5 inches of lift

But the shocks... i havnt heard about anyone running them

I have fj springs in the rear rn and they work good but rub on the frame

Links ftw... no axle wrap here

Also no carrier bearing so its as direct as it gets

Apparently my 882 coils weren't even developed with the Tacoma in mind. They're J90 coils or something. Made old man emu stop talking to me when I contacted them about the leaf spring sag.
