    Hi everyone,

When I get my Tacoma I plan on doing a complete stereo upgrade.
I am going to go with a Kenwood GPS nav head unit along with the kenwood dash cam

For speakers I plan on doing a front compartment setup and rear doors debating on coaxal or 2 way components and either a kicker hideaway self powered sub or a custom box for either an 8 or 10" sealed box behind the back seat as I will be going with a crew cab body short bed.

The three speaker brands for the mains I am looking at either Hertz, Focal or Morel.
I have used Infinity and Polk in the past but looking for better sound quality this time around and will be running an amp to power them.

Any thoughts, advice or input would be great.
If I can I would love to do a 3 way components set in front but if not practical will go with a 2 way component setup.

Thanks again to all you have always been helpful and I appreciate everything.

    Joe

Related topic,How much sound deadening do you plan on doing? High quality speakers are great up to a certain level, but you're really at the point of diminishing returns unless you start eliminating background noise.

i have Focal and absolutely would buy again, these are an older model K2P coax and work perfect with my SQL setup. but i agree with the above that sound deadening and then wattage per channel will be necessary to get it going. if you skip either your sound quality will suffer and be far from what's possible with what you buy.

I do plan on doing either roadkill or dyna mat in as well as using fast rings as well.
I also do plan on running an amp to power the setup.

what's that? these are about 15 years old. I've been running 300W per ch through them this whole time and they are as good as day one.

It's just a speaker they make that's plug n play. Already has the speaker adapter built in and uses factory plug. Sounds like yours is different though haha

I put these in my Tundra as well as a JL amp to power them. Sounded great and will be using them again when I upgrade the Taco.

Get coaxial for the rear, components would be wasted money. As for the sub, before you do anything you should decide where your going to mount your amp, and if your going to use the rear storage behind the seats. Most people put their amp under the drivers seat, and the sub behind the rear seats.
Im using JBL stadium in my truck (same as the infinity kappa), sound is great with them.
You can go with 3 way components up front. I am using the JBL stadium 6x9 components along with the JBL stadium add on 2 inch midrange.
The midrange fits in the factory dash spot, and the tweeter was moved to the sail panel. I am running full active with 3 amps, two 4 channel and one mono. So 6 channels of audio go to the front speakers, 2 for the rear and 1 for the sub.

Check out the first 3 pages of my thread for info on 3 way components.

Focal for life! I got the flax components in front and coax in rear. Highly recommend. Honestly though, rear speakers do nothing but hurt your front sound stage. I would spend as much money on your fronts/amp/sub as you can and not even worry about the rear.

not many talk about this but i 100% agree. rears really muddy it up on this truck if you're dialing in the fronts. but my experience is that well-powered fronts need a solid sub solution for the rear or it's incomplete.

Yep. Agree. Even with really good rears, does nothing for the better. I have mine almost off.

I run a JL HD 900 amp, and a JL Stealthbox. Plenty good for what I need and pairs nicely with the flax focal. If I were to do it again, I wouldn’t even power the rears with the JL amp and bi amp the front. Just run the rears off the headunit amp.

cool. i have a HD600/4 bridged to run the fronts and a 13TW5 on a 500/1 in the back. clean and punchy. the only thing missing is over the top sound deadening. i have moderate deadening only and it's not enough.

but with the new lifestyle i just may pull the seats, headliner, and floor and get busy after this cold snap.
