HID Question

I bought a cheap set of HIDs off ebay, my friend has the same set on his Nissan Hardbody and I like the look..

I have a question though, With the 2 wires that I wire to the truck, they have metal terminals that can plug into the factory headlight plug, which makes sense if there was power/ground, but with a test light I realized that all 3 connections in the plug are hot. One is constant when headlights are on, one is low beam, one high beam.. doesn't make sense to me lol. I figured one ground, one high, one low.. so just plug to ground and low beam terminals.. Anyone have any input? I was hoping to plug it to the stock plug.. rather than ground it separately.. less wires.

 

Pretty sure that one of those is a ground, how else would the factory headlights get there ground.

 

You could always cut that rubber grommet that came with the HID kit and go to your autopart store and get an H4 female adapter. The kit you got is very common and is designed for headlights with the connections inside the headlight. All 3 shouldn't be hot at all times... are you sure your headlight stalk wasn't pulled back?

 

That's what I figured, but if looking at it like | _ | then one side was hot as soon as I turned headlights on, then the other two alternate which is hot as I turn high beams on/off. Confused the hell out of me! haha
