Alright yall it's time for me to go fix my HID converted Hellas. Sometimes the right one doesnt come on and then I flip the switch a few times and it decides to work. When the right one doesnt want to work the left one makes a zapping noise. o_O

Man, I want a pop and lock so bad. Need to lock my tailgate. Heard too many bad reviews, haven’t pulled the trigger due to fear of breaking it and being in a mess :/

Anyone know if a 3rd gen tailgate would fit on a 2nd gen? Probably the only thing I like about the Turd Gens is the sext TACOMA blasted across the tailgate.

Yea I opened mine up becuase I was going to retrofit them anyways. I hear drilling a small hole on the bottom to drain out the water then seal it with silicone and then putting a hairdryer or heat gun in the hole where the bulbs go to completely dry it works.

Maybe that was the old design?
There is a new part number and a TSB out. I installed it and had no issues except for the fact that I didn't like the way that they want you to run the driver side linkage rod. It was rubbing too much so I put it back to original. I may have to put a slight bend in it where the lock cylinder is.

i dont have video but this is the basic process (by memory, for what that is worth)
get front up on jack stands
    remove wheel(s)
remove LCA from hub (2 bolts)
if you don't intend to get the truck aligned, mark the cam positions now
loosen the alignment cam bolts - this is important so that the LCA can swing freely all the way down
    loosen the lower shock mount
i forget if the sway bar link needs to be disconnected, if it looks like it does, do it now
put floor jack under the LCA and lift it slightly
remove the top coil over nut. this will allow the shock to drop
slowly lower the floor jack. the spring should help push everything down and the shock out of the top hat
remove the lower shock mount bolt, and you should now be able to pull the shock and spring out.
put the new spring and shock in place and reverse the process very carefully. as you raise the LCA with the floor jack, you'll want to watch the shock rod to make sure it is centered and makes its way through the hole in the top hat.
