I used a Meter and checked @ channel 1,19 and 40. Adjusted up and out of the red on all 3 channels

The last thing that would possibly make the SWR meter go down is to make sure it’s grounded well. If the rack isn’t grounded we’ll then your CB antenna won’t be grounded. If you were bored you could take a reading, then ground it and see if it brings it down any more.

Agreed. i found if tuning the firestik the best thing to do was to have the tip screwed in the whole way.

grounding is def the key. also depending on what connections you have. the quick disconnect firestik adapter made my SWR go through the roof. so i eliminated it.

dunno what meters your using, but from what i have read the built in ones will get you close, but are not as accurate as a plug in one. i have found i get a 1:1 on both stiks and my 102" whip

Well, we got our asses stuck last night, and I once again bailed ourselves out with a set of tire chains. Some wet clay just sucked me into some ruts in the rain. Just a little mud and a lot of cleaning! Nothing wrong with a little self recovery.6FF4F6CB-8D6E-4FB9-995E-815E52010D55.jpg A163DAAB-E614-45FF-89A8-2D0EF03B7222.jpg

I used many methods before resorting to putting on the chains and getting covered in mud. I used the locker, a-trac, 4-hi, 4-lo, making tree branch bridge, airing down, and then said screw this I need to go! It was an incline with really soft clay. It didn’t look bad at all, which is the reason I chose that spot to turn around. I even used that spot before and didn’t have issues. It was just a very wet situation. Oh well, it worked out.

Were you guys wanting to go camping soon or still need to wait longer to let the country/ work situation cool down from this whole mess?

um well "without damage" is vague...i always expect pin striping anywhere i go. i haven't been able to find any video on it to verify, but i dont think its anything gnarly. the off road tacoma is very capable as is with some off road shoes. loco's ride is stock with BFG'S and he didnt have any issues. he is also a very good decision maker and driver. i think is what dictates whether or not you can wheel without damage...

    i found the link below.

    https://forums.off-road.com/where-go-off-roading/297842-new-river-gorge-wv-multi-purpose-trail.html

all that being said. i figured it would be a good day trip to go and explore as i have always wanted to drive in and around the area.

The stock OR should be fine. My only damage on a pretty tough trail was my wheel was scratched and lots of undercarriage scrapes from a risky river crossing. After seeing my wheels, I wish they went with a less classy more utilitarian look so you don’t have to worry, but people want those “sweet looking” off road vehicles to drive to Walmart.

my setup with the little will mag mount and a handheld cb is super easy to slap on anywhere. I still need to permanently mount my stuff. Been too busy with work and wood.

was thinking about doing something similar as it would be nice to be able to take that vehicle in a group when its nothing serious. we also plan on trading it in within 4 years.

ditto on the wood and work. with the weather being nicer its going to be hard to find a semi poopy day to go wheeling....that is until i get all my stuff done :D

@PlatinumCloud ive been on the area you are talking about. Well maybe, down below the New River bridge in our dual sports. We went to a ghost town. It was cool
