As time goes on, I bet people start breaking the rules. Wonder if they'll post a monitor on each instance? Cause if you think about it, mandating a 14 day quarantine would make it impossible to do regular police work.

Lots of variables to have a reasonable effect. Certain specific fiber masks made it an option. But seems like it's way more trouble than it's worth.

Constitutionally though they won’t hold up in court. However the fear is more effective and thus most are complying

You'd spend a long time fighting it and I'm not sure you'd win. The laws exist for the greater good of public health. And just judging by what's happening in NY, I'm not sure I could argue against greater good.

i disagree as there have been court cases in previous years that state differently. Review the nurse in Jersey when Ebola was active. Quarantine only applies to someone who has tested positive or been in immediate contact with someone who has tested positive. Which as of now is going to be very hard to prove as testing still isn’t where it should be as far availability

I’m all for the shelter in place and believe people absolutely should practice social distancing I’m just stating the enforceable aspect of it is not what the government would like people to believe.

Spent a 12-hour day doing "essential public work" outside in the rain; got 11,875 feet (minimum) of deep, drilled piles to install on the site, and we got 665 feet done today, so not bad. Probably would be happier if I'd remembered my rain pants, though. Oof.

Thanks for that chart Don, that'll help.

How about multiple layers of t-shirt? I have like 14 white undershirts I wear under my chef coat. I was about to replace them and turn the old ones into rags and use for truck stuff.
As masks They would be better than nothing.
I did see blue shop towels are supposed to be pretty good. Sandwich those in the T shirt.

One thing I don't think I've seen anyone do is use a scuba unit. The tanks can be put in the grocery cart so they wouldn't have to be carried around. Add in a mask and you're sealed off from the rest of the world. The exhaust on the 2nd stage reg would need to be filtered in case of contaminating other people.

This one would end up before SCOTUS if it were to become a constitutional claim.

However the orders define specific things that are violations. For example, they include gatherings of any number of people, failure to maintain the 6' separation, being in a closed facility (park, public building) and so on. If you read the orders for your county, you may find more specific prohibited activities. Anyhow, things in the order that are prohibited are the violations you'll be charged with.

One area I am convinced will be problematic is being pulled over outside of your county and cited for something like going to the beach (so long as it's open and you aren't violating parking laws, whatever).

Something I don't know too much about is how California's constitution affects all this-except that it's what grants the authority to health officers.

I didn't read the State Order, but for us in the 7 Bay Area counties that were ahead of the State on the SIP, the exemptions for being outside were many, and various.

Correct. Like you can be outside to exercise. And up until recently, you could hike in most parks. You can go to the park, gas station, grocery shopping, and so on.

Wait, they shut down hiking in public parks? How the hell are they supposed to enforce that, and, even if they did, how does that not qualify under the outdoor exercise bit? And, more importantly, if I'm out hiking, I'm likely further away from other people than I would be on the streets.

There have been more people in the parks now than I've ever seen. I walk my dogs all the time and it's been crazy out there. Oh, and here's some great logic here...
