Yeah, this is pretty much what I'm seeing on the Los Gatos Creek Trail. I have a hard time believing that I'd be putting myself and/or others more at risk hiking up off Highway 35 than walking around on a heavily trafficked, four-to-ten foot wide, paved trail in the suburbs...

Why you still up? Someone rang my doorbell around 1 am. Now I'm sitting in my family room with the dogs, a flashlight and my gun.

Haven't gone outside yet. The doorbell woke me up, so I wasn't sure I if heard it in a dream at first. The damn dogs weren't phased. Any other time the doorbell rings, Jelly starts barking and runs to the door. Didn't even pop her head up.

A few minutes later, Tina came in our room asking if I heard it. She said she also heard an animal-like whine. Mentioned she was "spooked" three times, so I'm guessing she was spooked. She'd be the first to die in a zombie apocalypse.

Grabbed my pistol because it seemed like the right thing to do and went to the front room. Opened the blinds just enough to peak out. Didn't see shit. Thought they must be hiding in the bushes waiting for me to take the bait so they can overwhelm me and take our 120 super-rolls of TP. Stayed up for about an hour.

Always protect the TP. Have to take shifts to keep and eye on things.

Went out to check on things. No flat tires, broken windows, or small animals hanging from the eave. Joking aside, it's a little unnerving hearing your doorbell ring at 1 am "on a dark and stormy night."

Reminds me of the night some asshole was banging on my door yelling "police! open up!"...could not sleep after that. Turned out to be drunk neighbor who was relieving his life from about 20 years ago...when someone else lived here.
