    No it's not, and it's not so much an upgrade it's just switching to a sensor which is compatible with the airbox. It doesn't read better or less than the one we have.

    The MAF sensor swap and change out is only recommended to those exceeding the limitations of the 3" MAF sensor tube. Usually those running 2.5 pulleys or smaller or those running cam gears with a 2.6 (most likely on the 2.6) will top out the MAF, so an intake size upgrade is required.

    @mightytacoman runs HPT on his and he has a 4.5L now. He has not reported any issues so I would be inclined to say that what you are wanting to do with yours can indeed be done on HPT no problem.

    I hadn't considered uconn for this. The hptuner isn't fitting my needs currently and has been frustrating to fully dial in the new engine

    Have you tried going to a tuner with dyno capabilities and expanding from your current one? Fully custom tune by a tuner with experience using hp tuner. Or is this such a rare set up that no one has prior experience dialing in the right tune? I was waiting for warmer weather to do a stroker set up with BC kit but I’m having doubts if I can actually find the perfect tune.

    The OVTune for the Tacoma is the tuning software. User tuneable. Similar in scope to the HP Tuner.

    Which size injectors are you currently using @Flake Boost ? As well as which brand?

    The Ucon is not a standalone tuning device. It’s piggybacking and limited to the stock ECU. If hptuners can’t help on a real time dyno tune then you should go haltech 2500 with a boomslang. Believe me when I say the Ucon is frustrating! :cool:

    Thanks @smelly621 and @Flake Boost this helps for sure. Don't know when I'll get to this but this gets my research started to get spare parts lined up and make sure I have all the tools. Thinking about buying a new long 24mm wrench for the cam shaft.

    It sounds like both. And it’s all good man. We all were new at one point or another. I just think it’s funny how many posts you talk up how great the Ucon, rotrex kit, and Gadget can be... And yet YOU have little to no hands on experience with any of it. ;)

    With a lot of spare time on my hands these days, I am about to do a maintenance session on my SC (at 50k) following the linked how-to thread. At one point I had grand plans to do a bunch of stuff including gauges. I've reconsidered since its mainly a camping machine at this point and don't want to fall down the tuning rabbit hole chasing perfection.

    Are any of the performance mods here appropriate to do as stand alone mods without gauges or tuning software for feedback? Specifically thinking of the restrictor jet removal (and clamping of that hose) and fuel pressure regulator mod. Are those low risk / good return mods for a stock system?
