Pop some beads to learn your limit. Plus when one finally goes its not as big of a deal.

Some final fender trimming and wheel well bashing done. These pictures are at full stuff, love that the tires and wheels are under the truck not hanging out. As you can see with the LCAs adjusted all the way forward you have lots of room with a standard CMC. Wheels are Method Racing 105 17"X8.5" 0mm offset and 4.75" backspace, with Kenda Klever 35"X10.5"X17" tires.

I go as low as 10 with no bead locks. Never had issues with my 8.5" methods popping beads. Now that I have 9" wide xds I've rolled 2 beads. Haven't had a chance to see if it does it with the new 35s

What about using something like skate board tape or is that too rough. Do you get any bead leakage even slightly by taping them.

Do I understand correctly that you were able to fit 35's without any fender trimming at all? You mentioned your wheels spec (16x8 4" backspace -12mm offset). What are your tire specs; LT315/75r16? If 35's fit without fender trimming, I'm not seeing much reason to stop at 33's. I would have to do just about as much work.

I'm curious why you trimmed your bumper instead of replacing it.

I didn’t have to trim the fenders or flares running a 35x12.5

I’ve replaced my bumper since this post with the C4 Hybrid.

At the time I had a low profile bumper from SSO so had to do some minor trimming to the front plastic.

Right, makes sense. On the new wheels I've been running into debeading issues compared to the methods. Maybe on the wider 35s it won't happen. wheel width changed as well. I may end up getting a set of beadlocks we'll see. Outer bead has been my only issue. Now I've also been running a little higher than previous pressures, been starting to run trails and obstacles faster and well aired wayyyy down it isn't as comfortable feels like I'm riding on the wheels themselves.

Yeah I'm running XDs now had Methods and they were a lot better. 8.5 wide methods compared to 9 wide XD.

I only have 9 wides :anonymous: I wouldn't want to run a 10 wide that's just crazy talk

I agree looking at them when I swapped wheels the XD bead seat looked a little more rounded and not quite as tall. It hasn't been a huge deal to reseat them just takes some time away from wheeling. Hopefully with the 12.5 wides they'll be a little better now.

Oh yeah that's a big nope for me, I want the skinniest wheel possible to safely mount the tire on. To get a little more height and to also have more pressure on the side wall. I think I'll try that bead trick and if I continue to have issues I'll pony up for some beadlocks next year.

What do you think about running a few weld beads around the bead flange to make it a little taller and more aggressive at keeping the bead on?

Really good shit here. Gonna remember the gorilla tape trick for the future, as I don't think at the moment I need beadlocks for what I am doing. Though I'm pretty sure this conversation has happened to many people running 33, then 35 and so on

Yeah we've done a few custom wheel set ups welding on them. But I know where the issues can arise.

Yeah guess I'll try the simple first

It's good picking brains and having open dialogue without bashing even if there are 2 different opposing opinions or thoughts. You can learn things you didn't know if you keep an open mindset.

I’m running an 8” beadlock so it’s probably more like an 8.5”. I have ran them as low as 5psi. No burping but they were so flat there was little to no stress on the tire. When I mounted them they only needed a few psi to set the bead.

They sit at 20psi for everyday use.

However they are a bias ply which is a much different tire construction
