Ran out of clearcoat the other day so since it was warmer yesterday i popped by advance and picked up another premium rattle can of the stuff, added another coat to the grill surround, ready for wet sand today to hopefully smooth out the two little paint runs and couple of spots where there’s a couple bubbles etc. you can see one of the runs on the top left of this pic
    15BC5C0D-0980-4909-9CFE-C9D3A2589BB8.jpg

From 10ft this shit looks like it came from the factory which I’m happy with.
Closer look shows the rock chips and spot where i bumped my arm moving it inside to dry for the night

    71AA2D73-9A71-44EE-AFCE-05B63A9877D7.jpg

got a little polish pack of 3m sandpaper for auto pain finishing etc. from advance 1000,1500,2000,2500grit should get it nice and shiny.

Not bad for first time doing a ‘legit’ paint job on something with clearcoat like this.

on a spazzy note, i was going the last part of the grill and had the emblem next to it

    DA39D3F2-DF06-47CD-97FD-12A9C6DF5C7E.jpg
and my dumass steps right on the yota emblem, snapping off the bottom clip :annoyed:
No clue if this fix will even hold or if I’ll end up putting a little glue or something when reinstalling

Build and installed a HDPE plastic tail gate liner for more comfort sitting on the tailgate and to have a flat working surface when camping.

See, this is what I am afraid of. I have no way to get to the inside of my tailgate if the pop and lock does break like that because I have a Tonneau cover that will not open unless the tailgate is down. If I break it and have to remove to open, I’m afraid I’ll be SOL.

Yes, pretty much true. The material including shipping cost me $75 + 2h of my time for work.

Installed new alcan leaf pack for a friend. Did some "fab" work to fit diode dynamic SS3 into 05-11 fog lights. Still work in progress..

Designed these brackets in SolidWorks and then made 2x by hand. Turned out pretty good. Need to paint. Was going to weld to front receiver but decided I will tap front receiver M6 instead and bolt on. 18 gauge.

Will be 1x DRIVING and 1x WIDE Diode Dynamics SS6 each side when done.

The breather line? It’s snug, but there’s no kinks in the line.

I had the same fear with my electric pop and lock, so I used some paracord to install a hidden release that you can get to at the bottom of the tailgate. Can’t see it unless you get under it and are looking for it
