The 35” Tire Photo & Discussion Thread

Hey guys, What's the solution for spare? Currently have 33s with same size 33 spare mounted under the bed. How bad would it be to run 33s as spare if/when I go 35s? Can't be too bad right? since spare in general are noticeably smaller than mounted tires/wheels on any/most rides.

 

Running a smaller spare is fine for short term use. It's like running a donut, don't go very fast and don't go very far. I would advise against using 4wd with a smaller spare but for limited use it would be fine. Do not use a locker or lsd with a smaller spare. My worn out bfg km2 35-12.50 is about 33inches, I've only used it once and had if on for about 20 miles and have had no issues.

Just realized I dont have it strapped down in the photo, and cant find one. But I use a Mac's straps Y strap. Its also locked to the bed wall its against.

 

What spare tire mount are you runnning?

My gear swap to Nitro 4.56 is complete. I’ve driven about 40 miles of the 500 mile break in. While stock gearing wasn’t bad with 35’s, I could definitely tell the difference immediately.

Stoked to finish breaking them in!

Well, the battle continues in my quest for 35’s. I got my SPC upper control arms put on a few days back. Snagged them on Amazon for about 507 bucks out the door. I followed the SPC YouTube video trick to get approx .5 to .75 inches of extra clearance off the pinch weld. Got alignment done yesterday and....still hits at ride height at full lock. So, considering a body lift unfortunately. Alignment screenshot was from yesterday with upper control arm set at 0 which has plus 2 deg positive caster from the upper control arm. I adjusted to negative 2 deg setting today and still rubs. I will get it re-aligned on Monday.

 

I’m curious about this setup too.

It's not so much lift that will help you clear 35s. Your bumpstop doesn't move when you lift your truck and you will probably still rub the upper wheel well at full compression. I'm on 2 inches of lift and ran 35s. The hardest thing about 35s is rubbing the firewall. And if you don't want to bash or tub the upper fenderwell you need to bumpstop uptravel correctly.

No cab mount chop yet. Been massaging the pinch weld seem with a mallet but I was really hoping the upper control arms would pull the tire off the pinch weld seem at ride height. Still trying to see if there’s a shop that wants to cut my firewall. Might just have to go for it myself at some point. Kinda surprised there is no fabricated plates for the firewall like the cab mount chops.
