Lol yeah they certainly are widowmakers aren't they.
No way would I work under the truck while one of these is being used, and they are sketchy as fck to use even on a flat level surface,
but still useful in some scenarios. And as a come along.

    For my "recovery-kit" I have so far;
    10k winch,
    one snatch block,
    a tree saver,
    ranger kinetic recovery rope,
    ratchet straps,
    80' tow rope,
    high-lift,
    40' of 3k paracord,
    China-Trax,
    Small tool kit.

    but still plan to add;

    tire chains,
    Shovel, chainsaw, hackzawl.
    Another 100' 15K synthetic rope/winch line,
    2-3 more snatch blocks,
    2 more tree savers,
    Bottle Jack.
    Bunch of wood blocks.
4-5K portable "toolbox" winch system (if I see a good kijewjew deal)

And figure out a radio system(s)...

Driving around I always see unassumed roads, trails, hydro lines... up north. And outside of Hamilton.
But keep chickening out going very far up them because I don't want to get stuck,
or rut up the road if I do get stuck.

Then there is this group of crazies that I know that like going to Ray's place in the winter.....
I figure I'd be prepared to help those people driving Jeeps and stuff.

Getting a G-Wagon around in the rainy season in South America taught a group of us about creative rigging and winching.
When you guys were describing Winching With Friends 2020 event I had flashbacks of pouring rain and slipping on my ass in the mud that I can barely even stand on let alone pull a steel winch cable.

This one has had more use pulling fence posts out of the ground, would never use it as a Jack, even on a flat level ground, one good shake of the truck and it's going over.

It's handy to lift the truck up in the trailer hitch, then tip the high lift over to drop the truck out of a rut.
    As a come along ..
When you are on an incline and need to pull sideways.
    Moving trees off the trail...

Mines pretty much only been used around tge house too
But theyre good for lifting the vehicle to get it up a bit higher to winch over. letting the jack fall on purpose

or just lifting it enough to throw a log or traction board under a wheel

Like when you're building antique cars... spending years hunting through swap meets, classified adds just to find some little piece of trim or rare option.

Wife "Why are you so excited about some rubber hose that you paid $300.00 US dollars for?"
Me"Well first of all this is heater hose for a 69 Camaro, it's new OEM and see it has 3 ridges that run along the length and it has the correct colour mfg part # and especially date code is just a month or so before the date code on my car"
Wife "So you paid 300 for an old car hose?"
Me "No it is the correct factory date coded OEM component in a Classic restored vehicle that I would loose judging points for not having"
Wife" So you could loose 2 points, cut up the garden hose and save $300USF?"
Me "no that's just not done, that would be sacrilege, you women don't understand, it would be like..... feeding a baby dog food, it works but just isn't done"
and then another nigh on the couch, looking through the Triad classifieds for car parts ....

No more terrifying than a chain saw, shotgun, or a tractor pto. It’s a matter of respect, knowledge and experience. Not fear.

Oh man chainsaws and tractor pto’s. Hell watching someone cut the grass in sandles makes me cringe. The best is a line trimmer with no eye protection. Jeez.

use to cut a lot of grass and run wood splitters that the hydraulics were run off of a pto.

Might as well spend $65 on a 4-ton come along: https://www.amazon.ca/TEKTON-5546-4-Ton-Power-Puller/dp/B000NPT6P2/ So you can pull in 7-ft increments instead of 4-ft increments.

Moved mine more on the farm than I ever did on the truck. Such a handy tool.

almost died trying to load a metal framed green house onto a trailer though. OHSA doesn’t come ‘round the farm often.

Gfs neighbour has a 1st gen monte carlo and one day he had it out. I went over to check it out and the body is super clean but he had a section of garden hose Being used as a fuel line into the carb. Still get that shiver down my spine just thinking about it. Knowing someone thinks thats a good enough fix
