I can most surely relate to this post. I was in Technology from the days of 286 computers running DOS, and if your were lucky, it had 20 mb hard drive and 8 mb of ram. I did Telephone support, voice mail, network connections, plus moved a ton of people playing musical chairs from one floor to the next. Also responsible for trouble shooting all of the above if there were issues. I've had a couple of really good bosses over the years. After a merger, my boss showed me how much he appreciated my hard work with a 8k a year raise, to get me more inline with what the new company was paying their employees, and I was still making 4-6k less than the rest of the techs. Then I got a new dirtbag, I mean new boss, who couldn't write a coherent sentence in English. I proofed all of his emails for him, and coached him on how the Phone, and network systems worked so he wouldn't look like an IDIOT, which he was, when he went to meetings. I applied for his job before he was transferred from the Electronics repair dept. They told me if I did the job for 2 years and they were happy with my performance, they'd give me a raise and title change to befit the new Job. I told them no way, I'm taking on that responsibility for 2 years with nothing to show. After 4 years working under the new boss(Idiot), we had a falling out after he left my ass hanging out in the breeze for the 3rd time, when he promised he had my back. So when time to downsize(layoffs), guess who got the axe.

How about a sunday night story time.
Once upon a time(1977) I decided to take some vacation time and go camping and fishing. So me and my girlfriend drove up to a nice lake in Texas from Houston, and spent the first night in the car(bad idea). It rained and stormed like crazy. Next day we drive back to Houston, and I went by the credit union and took out some cash. Went to my favorite sporting goods store, and purchased a cheap 2 man pup tent, lantern, and other needed supplies. Then we drive back to the lake and found a really cool place to setup. Later that night, my girlfriend almost gave me a heart attack when she woke me up screaming and hollering about thousands of eyes all around our tent and campsite. I had my 10k candle watt light hooked up and and turned it on. There must have been around 200 deer feeding all around our campsite, which was under a huge oak tree. Needless to say, she calmed down when she realized they were deer, and not wolves or monsters she was screaming about before. She almost drowned both of us at a family re union, but that's for another story. Oh to be young again.
