I had a suspected contamination so work planned to have me stay home 2 weeks, then changed to 4 days.

It gave me time to get my hurst core short shifter installed, dump gear oil and fill with redline mt90. 4.0, 6 speed manual 2007 xrunner.

Overall it definitely feels better. I thought my stock shifter handle had mushed epoxy. The handle wasn’t perfect but the white bushing was totally destroyed.

The new shifter is taller. It feels nice and firm, notchy, short throws. I did the acumulator delete mod months ago, replaced the leaking clutch master cylinder a few weeks ago, then the hurst shifter and gear oil change recently.

Here’s my question. I’m getting what might be described as a grinding noise that’s closer to sanding, similar to a really bad vacuum leak. If I rest my hand on the shifter knob, I can tell the noise is coming through the shifter. Today, I drove it about 15 miles, the noise seemed to go away as it got warmed up. Should I be concerned about this noise or is it normal?

THe headlight restoration thread reminded me.....I really needed to re-do my fogs.

Still working but considering getting the hilux snorkel from eBay. My fenders are trimmed and I’m getting water, mud, sticks, and small rocks in my air filter box :(

THanks! I'll do the other one tomorrow. Takes at least half a day between letting each coat dry and a super fine wetsand halfway through.

You still could. Also, try not to let paint dry in the sun like that as it can also cause haziness.

    Bunch o' Stuff!

    1) Ordered a Torro Offroad Skylux RTT before the virus was big in the USA....patiently waiting it's arrival....
    2) In the mean time, installed a CBI Overland Bed Rack for the tent, Mounted lights to the bed rack to light up the bed at night and wired those per the factory bed light option.
    3) Replaced my RCI Engine Skidplate as it was no longer skidplate shaped....this time I drilled some holes in the upright cylinders that are used to space it off the mounting location from the frame----found the old skidplate was actually stronger than the frame in that spot and had bent the crossmember (not majorly, just crushed it slightly). I want the skidplate to be the part that crushes this time.
    4) Installed the Toyota Bed Lock actuator---no conflict with the bedlight wiring, for those wondering. PT: PK3B635JS0. Just follow instructions. The bed lights use drivers side kick panel location but the lock uses passenger door lock wiring.....so no conflict whatsoever. Unclear why the notice.
    5) In progress: Assembly of bussmann RTMR to control all ancillary accessories.
    6) Mounted Rigid Ditch lights, with RCI Ditch light bracket.
    7) Installed 1.25" Wheelspacers in anticipation of 285/75r16's That I''ll be upgrading to as soon as these factory tires are completely toasted.
    8) Changed Air filter. Definitely the most labor intensive job out of all of these. Had to Open the hood!
