im not a car theif, but to my knowledge our trucks are hard to break into with a coat hanger.

stopped to get a drink at a gas station cuz i was gettin tired. figured why shut the truck off ill be in and out in 30 seconds cuz nobodys around.

i am in and out in 30 seconds and then pull on my door handle and nothin happens. fml.

rain/snow and im wearin a thin summer hoodie. my spare is in my bros apartment 45 mins away and im in the middle of nowhere.

while waiting the gas station closed and i continued to pick at it with no sucess. i tried down beside the window like everyone knows, through the door jam, and also thought about over the window if i could get it down far enough. didnt work.

i will be cutting another door key and making a hidden key holder somewhere concealed on the outside of the vehicle so this doesnt happen again. others should do this as well. its not fun

did that once as well in my 93 p/u. luckily the back sliding glass clip was broken so i could just slide it open and try to squeeze my ass through the window. I have spare keys made for all my cars and hide them. My newest car im not too sure about because it has the chip in it. how did you get in?

Sliding glass windows in the rear are pretty easy to get into if you're really in a jamb. Otherwise, they make lock boxes that go into the hitch with a combination or those magnetic things that stick on the frame. I just don't like the idea of having a key outside the truck.

I will never put a key in one of those magnetic things on my truck. Cause it would be just my luck that I'd wake up in the morning and my truck would be gone. lol. I'd rather be safe than sorry calling a locksmith.

I didn't think you could get out and lock the doors if the key was in the ignition, I know I carry the valet key and have to manually lock the door with a key after I start my truck to warm up in the driveway.

I did that once.... wasn't feeling super great and I USUALLY keep my spare in my pocket, but was in a hurry and just threw it in the truck. Thank goodness my granddaughter was in the truck and could unlock the door :anonymous:

The door locked automatically with the key in the ignition? That's interesting...I didn't think that could happen. You might have your dealership make you a plastic credit card key to keep in your wallet. Mine send me one after I purchased the truck and I had to go in for them to cut it. It will open the door but not start the truck. At least with this you can stash a chipped key inside your truck. Hideing one on the outside in a magnetic box kinda scares me since these trucks are so easy to crawl under...especially when lifted.

You're not the only one. Mine won't either. The OP has a base model truck without a key FOB is my guess. Therefore no power locks or windows.
