Things I've learned about the 2JZ, everything coolant related is connected by o rings and machined surfaces, ingenious. Why don't the other engines that came after that 2J do this. This engine came around in 1991 FFS.

Most likely due to the increased cost of precision machined surfaces. IMHO, the late 1980s and early 1990s were the peak years of extreme Japanese quality.

Makes me want to see if my 1FZ is like this too, it was invented around the same time 2J was being released. Makes sense though, I bet casting porosity plays a big role in why the truck/tacoma V6 and I4 don't do this.

You think the 2jzs cult formed around it was pre planned?

I understand the hype around the power it can hold, it's a very stout head design, closed deck iron block, well girdled crank (7 main bearings), balanced like no one's business, packages well for an inline six too (seriously I measured it, it's at least 7" shorter than my 1FZ. But I didn't think Toyotas second to last gas I6 was also a complete departure from their usual methods of attaching things. That's nice, it honestly is like working on a Nissan in that respect. New Nissan's machine and ring everything

I live in Singapore back in the late 80s. None of that shit was there then. That was a good time. Gradiated HS from the Singapore American School. Fuck I'm old now.

I've got frame plates and already relocated the shocks but I'll probably still box the frame at some point. Just because.
