Looking to explore a new path with my career. I do high end manual welding for aerospace work. I'd like to explore getting into automated welding in the same field.

There tends to be a lot of complications because the folks who know welding and the folks who program the equipment can never communicate well enough to achieve the more difficult tasks.

So a possible opportunity for me is to be the employee who handles it all. Also gives me the freedom to do contract work.

Running in incognito mode fixed my issue with FAH.
I also forgot to mention that I got my cooler turned the proper way when I replaced the chip, it was starting to drive me crazy since I could see it up on the desk.

The AMD stock coolers can fit two ways, neither is wrong in terms of performace.

I have a B450 with a 3600 (formerly 2600) and have no complaints, unless you plan on using the additional features of the X-570 or need the better power delivery of a high end board for heavy OC’ing I would stick with the B450

Linus said unless you want to get vary particular AMD Ryzen doesn't have much room for overclocking. But what does he know with that 5 o'clock shadow he's calling a beard :burp:. I'm not into OC'ing or know right off what those extra 570 features are so sounds good to me. I don't even use a desktop (or laptop) that much anymore, my phone is pretty much my main "pc"

You can get extreme with the OCing with good cooling and particular power delivery but it sounds like the b450 is perfect for you.
    Here’s a little rundown on the differences between X-570, X-470, and B-450.

Which discreet graphics card are you looking at? What’s your use for the PC?

Got an rx580 a couple months ago, for my (about 10 yr) old PhenomII x4 945 setup(now htpc/file storage), that I'll add to it with my evga 850w psu. I'll play an occasional game on it(mostly play Xbox and switch), CAD, play around now and then with some 3d modeling, office workstation, etc.

That should be a great system for a B450 board then, I’m running an Rx580 as well and 3600 easily outpaces the RX580 in gaming and the 3600X and 580 combo should be plenty enough power for your uses.

There's a msi b450m gaming plus and 3200g on FB marketplace for $100. Might pick that up if the kid can show me it boots, passes a stress test, and has no bent pins.

    Edit:just has the 3200g left for $50

I’m not familiar with the 3200G so I’ll let @Sterdog or someone else with more knowledge chime in.

The 3200G goes on sale sometimes for $80 retail. It's also not a Zen 2 processor, the 3000 APUs use the older Zen+ architecture. It's only 4 cores and 4 threads, it's built for the office more than gaming. You're much better off with the 3600 long term if you can afford it.

The reason you don't need to overclock Ryzen chips is because of how they boost. In theory, they boost automatically within their power, TDP, and heat constraints. The better the board and the cooling, the higher Ryzen chips will boost within their set TDP limits. That all being said you can overclock cheaper binned chips like the 3600, which don't regularly automatically hit the power and heat limits, and exceed the highest approved TDP for that chip. Oh, well that's not all though. Most motherboards for home builders automatically take the TDP limits off the chip, so overclocking is again often unnecessary on Ryzen chips, depending on the motherboard manufacturer. You may have to play with the preciusion boost overdrive settings to see the maximum automatic results in your particular application.

The reason why Intel kids need to still overclock is that the Intel boost frequencies are time locked. Intel chips can't hold maximum boosts, they usually fall back to a number about halfway between their base and boost clocks after a set amount of time. Supposedly the 10th gen Intel chips will fix this but who knows.

That’s what I run for now. Really wanting to throw in either the 5700xt or 2070super when prices drop later this year with the new gen stuff
