It picks up the air from the outside and filters it so that's all the crap that would of been blowing into the cab.

The Amazon Essentials one is like 15 bucks and pretty stout for the money. Held up to my dog and our antics plenty fine.

Finally finished the wrap writeup on page 1... only took me a year lol. Should I make a new thread with the post or just keep it on the build thread?

For those of you that are curious, wrap is holding up well. Obviously there are spots where I messed up, but overall still happy with it and glad II ripped my truck apart for blurple lol.

Hope everyone is staying safe out there during this apocalypse. I got kicked off the ambulance for my medic internship so all of that is on hold for who knows how long. Currently searching for jobs to make do until then. Really cant wait for all of this to be over and we can go back to regular scheduled programming.

I think a dedicated thread would make it easier for people to find.

Who knew it’d take a pandemic to get me off my ass to finally do a clear coat over the fake bead ring on my spare so they all match. Do you guys throw your full size spare into the rotation?

Absolutely, otherwise, that tire's just going to waste. So far my track record says I switch tire brand each time I buy new ones so no sense in saving it. That's just me though.

I must be an out of sight out of mind sort of person because my spare has never been out of its hanger and my truck is 10 years old. Hell I don’t even know if it’s got good pressure.

Nice wrap job and sweet colour!

I ordered some vinyl to wrap my rear chrome bumper and my grille surround. 2 years ago I pealed my chrome off my grille surround, primed and colour matched it. Now it's chipping bad.

Any tips for wrapping the grille surround?

    Thanks man!

So my grille surround definitely is not one of my finest pieces haha. I had issues on the two smaller pieces on either side. It recesses back pretty far and I couldn’t get the wrap to reach the curves without pulling. If I could do it again, I’d probably do an I lay over those two pieces and then the remainder of the surround be an overlay. Right now my wrap is pulling away and showing white the tip of both of the whatever you want to call the actual grille part haha. I hope that makes sense

Are you talking about the two triangles? Perhaps the curved part of the bottom of the triangles?
By inlay do you mean putting a strip of vinyl first?
    upload_2020-4-6_10-7-1.jpg

Do you recommend removing the surround before wrapping? I think it would be a good idea so I can tuck/wrap the vinyl behind so it doesn't peel away.

Yeah I took a dremel and separated them and then used epoxy to put them back together.

Yes that’s exactly what I’m talking about. I hadn’t brainstormed about in in a while but you usually want the seam for the inlay/overlay to be on a body line or a curve and have the overlay line facing away from you if that makes sense.

So for the grille here, I’d maybe try and have the inlay be in the recessed portion only and ending at the hard edges of all 3 sides of the triangle, then have the overlay which would be the entire surround vinyl piece overlap and then use knifeless tape to cut and have the seam down in the body line.

I hope this helps. Not sure if you said you’ve done this before but definitely watch some videos and stuff to get an idea of how to and preparation and such to set yourself up for success!

I already separated the surround before when I printed it. I guess I'll have to do it again!
This seems like it's going to be more complicated than I thought... lol shit

Thanks for the information and help!
