Headlight oxidation

My boss has a 2015-2016 highlander and I was surprised to see that his headlights look like they are at least a decade old from all the oxidation. Due to the similar design they share with the the 3rd gen tacoma headlights (in that they are bulbous/have a lot of surface area on top that is directly exposed to the sun) I was wondering if any 2016 owners have started to notice oxidation. I read some 2nd gen threads and one 3rd gen thread on what people thought was best to mitigate the inevitable but opinions seemed pretty split.

 

When mine oxidizes I'll sand and put a new coat of clear.

 

Clear coat protects them. Refinished a lot of head lights. Car painter here. Just my 2cents

I had mine replaced under warranty just before my 3 years was up. I put a vinyl eyelid on my new pair to protect it from the UV

 

The dealership accepts oxidation as a reason to replace under warranty?
