I have a couple quick questions. Is there any holes in the back of the cab of a second gen that I could pass my Cb coaxial through and if so how do the bed caps pop off? I have an antenna mount for back by the tailgate. I was thinking of going out the back of the cab and up under the bed caps to the back corner.

There's a pretty easy grommet under the drivers seat. The actual back of the cab only has the air vent, which is behind the passenger seat. Another good candidate might be a grommet under the center seat right in front of the toolbox.

That's actually super convenient because you also have super easy power right near there in the console, at the inverter.

In the double cab there's a grommet in the back right corner/drivers side.

Anyone running a WeBoost and if so hows it working for you? I'm thinking specifically if you've taken it out into the Mt Baker Snoqualmie forest or out on the trails to get some extra signal strength?

Ours does seem to help a little when we're somewhere with really weak reception. Doesn't help at all if you're down in a valley with no line of sight to any towers, but it if you're on a ridge line or hill top it can turn 0-1 bars into 3.

The Garmin Inreach works well for sending/receiving texts when we're way out in the mountains/down in a valley.

thats good to know - i was also loooking at the Inreach. Are you paying for an annual subscription for Inreach and if so how much are you paying?
With Inreach does it connect with your phone so that you can send texts via your phone while using the Inreach to reach the satellites? Or do you use the actual handheld inreach device to text etc

    THanks for the insights!

I think I pay 25/month for up to 30 outbound messages per month. They have a lot of different plans though.

I got the lowest plan that's $13/month for 10? messages. Then it's like a $1/message after that I think (don't quote me on that). One good feature is you can setup a few preset messages before you head out and then send those for free, so if you're just checking in or sending people your location that doesn't count against your monthly total.

I also think they recently made it so everyone can adjust their plans month-to-month, so if you know you're heading out on a long trip or know you won't use it you can change your plan to save money.
