Probably shouldn’t be driving around. Staying home means staying home. They say that for a good reason. It’s no big deal to wait.

 

Exactly this.

Being solo and risking something happening puts others needlessly at risk. No emergency responded needs anything else on their plate currently.

 

I'll just use the time to work on my toyrolla.
On my trip to labrador I named the truck
"Little princess powder puff"

By the end of 2020 that name better change.

On a nother note trying to be careful and not get hurt or need any emergency services right now.

So wheeling g alone...... dont think soo.

 

I would say you can just as easily get injured at home, trying to stay busy while cooped up.

@Windigo showed us some pics of an example of how easy this is.

You just have be cautious with what ever you are doing. I dont think they can expect everyone to stay home and go no where for weeks or months at a time.

Gas is so cheap, its impossible to not drive right now.

You can wheel alone guys, you just have to use your brain, common sense, know your skill level. What you can and cant do, when to turn around if needed.

Wont be keeping me at home that is for sure


I have done a lot of things alone, its learning what you can and cant do that is the hardest part.

 

Yeah llamasurf the advice is stay home so do everyone a favour and stay home it’s pretty simple to stay home

 

I agree. Stay to yourself and know your limits.

 

Yeah, the point is that no one should be out there driving around. You buy gas, you interact, THIS IS SERIOUS. What's a few months out of our comfortable lives if it will help others. Have a heart.

 

I'm not planning on going out but if I was, going for a drive isn't that bad. There should be no interaction for anyone, get your gas and go. Not stopping to talk to anyone.
I do take it seriously. Up until this past weekend I was still working so I kept to myself at home. Wife has asthma and since I was still working I had to be careful.
In and out through the back door, I was the only one allowed to use that door, slept and hung out in the basement while no one is allowed down there. If I needed to use the kitchen I sanitize my hands first and touched very little. Now I'm home I still have to wait the 2 weeks to see if I haven't got anything before I can go back to normal.

 

I’m sure there’s a good reason why the public health guys say staying at home doesn’t include driving around when it’s non essential. Think about it. The aim is to minimize contact. How do you do that driving around? Gas stations and public washrooms are among the germiest public places we know. Then there’s a necessity for more traffic enforcement, and accidents happen too. Bad idea. It’s hard for us to be disciplined, we’re so used to doing whatever we want. But it’s a small sacrifice and short term pain for getting through this quicker.

 

I went and read the gov website, it does not say anywhere to stay home and not go out side by yourself.

Please link me to where the govmnt is saying we are not allowed to go outside?

You dont have to interact with anyone to drive your vehicle, I have tap for gas. Dont even touch the pad. Put my gloves while filling?

Declaration of emergency
The province has enacted a declaration of emergency to help contain the spread of COVID-19 and protect the public.

As a result, the following establishments are required to close immediately:

• all bars and restaurants, except to the extent that such facilities provide takeout and food delivery
• all facilities providing indoor recreational programs
• all public libraries
• all private schools
• all licensed child care centres
• all movie cinemas
• all theatres, including those offering live performances of music, dance and other art forms
• all concert venues
• communal or shared, public or private, outdoor recreational amenities including but not limited to:
  • playgrounds
  • sports fields
  • basketball and tennis courts
  • off-leash dog parks
  • benches
  • skateboard and BMX parks
  • picnic areas
  • outdoor community gardens

  • outdoor exercise equipment

“Listening to public health rules is your duty,” said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday during one of his daily press conferences. “Staying home is your way to serve, so be smart about what you do, about the choices you make. That is how you’ll serve your country and how we’ll all serve each other.”

Top health officials have echoed this message, asking Canadians not to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary, including to go to work, pick up food or medication, or to seek out medical assistance. It’s also advised not to meet with anyone you don’t live with and to keep at least two metres’ distance from others when outdoors.

With such straightforward suggestions, infectious diseases expert Dr. Isaac Bogoch says there should be no question surrounding whether or not it is acceptable to drive around unnecessarily.

“There’s clear messaging on the public health website,” he told CTVNews.ca on Wednesday via telephone. “Everyone knows what to do.”

In fact, the doctor says he’s been getting a number of questions from members of the public about specific daily practices, including something as simple as how to appropriately play tennis.

“It’s going to be impossible to micromanage every single possibility of human behaviour,” he said. “I just hope people factor in some common sense.”

Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says there is a clear answer to the question of whether it’s ok to leave the house for an aimless drive: no.

Schmidt encourages people to stay indoors and only leave the house when necessary, such as to get groceries and medication. That means not going for a drive just because you feel like it.

“If you don’t have a reason to be out, don’t be out,” he told CTVNews.ca via telephone Wednesday. “We want people to voluntarily comply with the situation we’re dealing with.”

 

Let my put my 2cents in hear.
I live at bathurst and steels, there are families walking by the house all the time. Yesterday at a distance a mom,dad and 2 kids stopped to ask questions about my tacoma.. werid because its a toyrolla anyway, the city is not on lockdown... you are allowed to go out but keep social distance. I have a curbside pick up to do at homedepot today, Public transit is still operating and people are still out and about dog walking, going to stores, working, going for a jog or walk. The government is not forcing anyone to stay at home, its not a new law that people do but if you can there saying its best to do so....

thats my take on this.......

 

Yeah, hopefully a few people who don’t get it won’t make the government pass more laws and create more rules for those of who do get it. That’s how our freedoms are infringed upon by a minority of bad actors.

 

I’m sure going out for a walk while preserving social distancing is ok. But parks are closed for a reason. And yes, staying at home is what the government is requesting. Read the full page ad in today’s Globe and Mail, page 5, Stay at home. What is there about that you don’t get?
And I definitely don’t thing wheeling somewhere up in cottage country is a good idea. Come on.

 

Look everyone's situation is different. I'm still working and have other responsibilities too that takes me outside. I'm not going to argue this point I'll just say we all have different lives were living and I'll leave it at that..

 

i'm glad my truck is just a second hobby of mine, and my primary one is staying at home and playing video games...

 

When I pump my gas I actually do it with my mouth. And I try to interact with everyone at the gas station, even as far as asking them to cough on me. /s
