Georgia man with COVID-19 refused to quarantine, went out in public, sheriff says

HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. — The Haralson County Sheriff's Office said a man who tested positive for the coronavirus refused to self-quarantine and went out in public.

The man has now been hospitalized.

The Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that the man’s girlfriend refused to get tested and also went out in public. A judge signed an order for her to stay quarantined, but she refused to comply.

The girlfriend is now also in the hospital, although officials said it was not related to the coronavirus.

“It is vital that citizens who are diagnosed with or are exposed to this virus do the right thing and self-quarantine”, says Chief Deputy Joel McSwain. “If you go out you could infect others who have to be out working. We must protect our citizens.”

It's unclear if the man and his girlfriend will be cited. Their identities have not been released.

McSwain praised the work of two of his deputies who were on the scene of the incident and took the proper precautions.

    https://www.sciencetimes.com/articl...ic-drug-found-kill-covid-19-lab-within-48.htm

An anti-parasitic drug has found to kill COVID-19 in the laboratory within 48 hours. The drug has always been available throughout the world.

A team of Australian scientists at Monash University in Melbourne has shown a single dose of the Ivermectin drug was able to stop the SARS-CoV2 virus growing in cell culture. The Food and Drug Agency approves the drug as an anti-parasitic drug that is effective in fighting viruses such as HIV, influenza, and Zika. Their study was published in the journal Antiviral Research.

    Ivermectin: the anti-parasitic drug
Dr. Kylie Wagstaff of Monash University and one of the authors of the study said that they found out that a single dose could remove all viral RNA of COVID-19 within 48 hours and that even in the first 24 hours, there was already a significant reduction in it.

While Ivermectin is known to work on the virus, the drug, however, reduces the host cells' ability to clear the infection. Scientists identified the next step is to determine the correct human dosage so as not to harm humans.

Although COVID-19 has only been known to exist for a few months, the good is that some of the team involved in studying the vaccine already had prior experience and knowledge working with it.

One of the virologists who was part of the team that first isolate and share COVID-19 outside of China in January of this year, Dr. Leon Caly, is excited about the prospect of Ivermectin as a potential drug against COVID-19. Caly is the study's author and senior virus identification specialist from the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory.

Dr. Wagstaff said, "In times when we're having a global pandemic, and there isn't an approved treatment if we had a compound that was already available around the world, then that might help people sooner."

Of course, finding a vaccine and cure to this pandemic would take a while to be broadly available. But first, funding for the research is needed before Ivermectin can be used to combat coronavirus.

    Uses of Ivermectin
Ivermectin is an anti-parasitic drug used to treat certain parasitic roundworm infections. Curing roundworm infections can reduce the risk of developing a severe or life-threatening disease on people who has a weak immune system.

This anti-parasitic drug is under the class of drugs known as antihelmintic-a group of drugs that kills parasitic worms- that works by paralyzing and killing parasites.

    Other drugs tested for COVID-19
Like any vaccine and cure for the COVID-19 infection, researchers have been taking similar attempts in developing this drug by repurposing several other drugs such as the anti-malaria drugs hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine.

Other drugs that are being tested around the world are the antiviral drugs that were developed to treat HIV and Ebola, which includes the lopinavir, ritonavir, and remdesivir.

But just like the other drugs, Ivermectin may show promise, but it also has its own side effects that could potentially harm rather than do good. More so, it should be verified if any of the available drugs can be used as a safe and effective treatment for COVID-19.

Ya gotta be a real dope to cheat on your girl...

Marietta drug dealer jailed after calling 911, police allege
    [IMG]

A Marietta man who called police on his girlfriend during a domestic dispute ended up in jail after officers said they found a large amount of drugs, cash, drug dealing equipment and a loaded assault rifle in his apartment.

Evan Norman Wallace, 22, was arrested by Marietta police at his apartment in The Parks on Windy Hill complex in southeast Marietta around 5 a.m. on March 29 and booked into the Cobb County jail on five drugs and weapons-related charges, records show.

Police said Wallace locked himself in his bathroom and called 911 sometime around 1 a.m. on March 29 because his girlfriend had thrown an ashtray at his toe and was attempting to kick the bathroom door down, having discovered, via the Snapchat phone app, that he was cheating on her.

When officers arrived at the apartment, the couple was outside, per Wallace’s arrest warrant.

Wallace said his toe was injured and his girlfriend admitted she had kicked a hole in the wall near the bathroom, the warrant states.

Officers asked to enter the apartment and Wallace obliged, according to the warrant, which further states the officers immediately smelled marijuana and saw three glass mason jars filled with the illegal drug.

“The three mason jars were on a shelf in plain view in the connecting dining room area to the living room and were clearly visible upon entering the living room of the apartment,” police said in the warrant.

Wallace told officers he also had a loaded “AK” rifle and a Glock gun in the apartment, the warrant stated, adding the rifle was in his bedroom and the Glock could not immediately be located.

Police obtained a search warrant for the apartment and ultimately found 297.3 grams of marijuana, 5.3 grams of marijuana seeds, five THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) cartridges, $6,350 in cash and the loaded assault rifle, according to Wallace’s arrest warrant.

Officers said they also discovered in the home a range of drug paraphernalia and dealing equipment including two digital scales, a vacuum bag sealer, over a dozen reusable vacuum seal bags with marijuana flakes inside, small glass jars with marijuana wax, multiple “bongs” with marijuana/marijuana wax residue, multiple bowls with smoked marijuana residue, a marijuana oil extractor used to make concentrated marijuana wax, a marijuana wax mold and a roll of blank “Rx” (prescription) labels for medical cannabis.

According to police, $5,620 in cash was rolled up with rubber bands and $730 was in a locked safe, alongside a “ledger of past sales” and multiple gold chains.

The marijuana was in 11 separate containers, including mason jars and vacuum sealed bags, which were labeled with the weight and strain of marijuana, per Wallace’s arrest warrant.

Police said the five THC cartridges were in their original packaging, four labeled with 71.4% THC content and one with 93.4% THC content.

Wallace is charged with four felony counts of possessing, manufacturing or distributing marijuana; possessing illegal drugs; unlawful possession of illegal drugs with intent to manufacture; and possessing a gun during the commission of a crime, records show. He also faces one misdemeanor charge of possessing an unlawful prescription.

Wallace spent about 15 hours in custody at the Cobb County jail before being released on a $15,000 bond to a Dallas, Georgia, address about 8 p.m. on March 29, his jail record shows.

Damn! What am I going to watch now?

Castmembers, who are severely obese, have been labeled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as being at high risk for severe illness amid the coronavirus outbreak.

TLC's nonfiction medical drama My 600-lb Life continued to film across the U.S. this week with severely obese castmembers despite social distancing recommendations and high-risk factors for the show's stars amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Between March 20 and 26, the TLC show was actively filming in at least three states — Texas, Florida and Mississippi — documents provided to The Hollywood Reporter and interviews with sources with firsthand knowledge of the show revealed.

Though these particular states' coronavirus policies are patchwork-like at present — multiple counties in Texas and Florida have "stay-at-home" orders and Mississippi does not yet have any such orders in place — the U.S. government and state governments are recommending social distancing amid the outbreak nationwide.

Megalomedia, the Austin, Texas-based production company behind the series, responded to an inquiry from THR on Friday by stating: "The health and safety of Megalomedia’s show participants and employees is always our top priority, now more than ever. We continue to comply with all local, state, and federal guidelines that cover this unprecedented pandemic. My 600-lb Life is not filming with a single participant at this time."

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
I actually find that story funny. And people are butthurt. I feel it's a great way to get the point across.

On another note, I question the validity of this website. If you read this tagline for the article, it says NYC hospital.
    https://defensemaven.io/bluelivesma...e-up-their-ventilators-wi-k9OrtRE6giHIaWnDkKg
But this is from our local cancer institute in Buffalo. For those not familiar with NYS, Buffalo is on the other side of the state, appx 375 miles away.

Haven’t dug deep but taglines aren’t a big indicator. A Buffalo outlet might pick up an AP story elsewhere in the state. Or might even research it themselves. Do be skeptical but don’t just immediately disqualify.

that said, the specific site cited is questionable so be very skeptical

This isn't a tagline from AP that Buffalo picked up. She was an Exec at the local cancer institute, which my wife works at, in Buffalo, NOT NYC. Also the same one I do a bike ride for to raise money for. I don't trust ANY "news" that doesn't pay attention to detail.
