Lots of great info in this thread. I am in the market for my first Tacoma. From what I have gathered from this thread is anything 10+% off MSRP is considered to be a decent deal. Hows does the factory rebate fit in to this. When people say shoot for at least 10% off do they mean 10 percent off MSRP plus the rebate (example A), or 10% off MSRP including the rebate (example B).

    Example
    A
    40,000 MSRP
    -1,500 rebate
    -4,000 discount
= 34,500 plus TTL and fees

    B
    40,000 MSRP
    -1,500 rebate
    -2,500 discount
    =36,000 plus TTL and fees

Thanks for all the info everyone.

You should be able to negotiate 10 - 12%+ off MSRP (I would also include doc fee in this number since it'll get added on at the end) before subtracting any customer rebate. Toyota also occasionally provides direct to dealer incentives which not made public but sometimes/ usually get leaked out (can be region dependent). Haven't heard of any on 2020 Taco's, at this point

You got that right I left LI 5 years ago with 12k in property taxes now in MD about 3k. But still sticker on a 2020 pro with a discount is 53K. But for 35k you can pickup an OR.

That is one loaded OR! Must be a lot of dealer added options? If you want them fine but that's just an okay deal if it already includes $1500 cash back - IMO.

The information in this forum helped me a lot when purchasing my Tacoma, so I wanted to share my information for others. Last week I purchased a 2020 SR5 (V6 4x2 DCSB). It had an MSRP of $33,693 ($32,115 base MSRP plus the destination fee, all weather floor mats, and rear USB chargers) and I got it for $28,651 pre-TTL, doc fee, and a rebate.

No trade in, but the doc fee was high ($649, there’s no cap in Georgia), so they probably made a few bucks back there.

    Still in progress...
Factory rebate generally depends if you are using Toyota financing or not. Haven't looked at bank/credit union rates lately but if you can get 1.9% or better financing though Toyota it will save you 4-8K overall.

how are you guys buying trucks? NJ dealers are all closed... Are they delivering the trucks to you? I mean, dont u want to test drive it before you buy it... Dealers has shit load of cars and trucks to get rid of us.... they are needing cash! If you have the $$$ or steady/solid income along with a mask... I think this is the time to deal hardcore with them!

I believe dealerships are included as "essential businesses" in California so they're open. They will also deliver the truck if you prefer.

I dont think selling a car is considered essential but fixing it and part is essential. Its kinds weird, they deliver the car and you test drive it. Then you dont like it... it seems like a waste of time for everybody...

good luck folks, I hope u guys find a deal where they take $10k off the sticker... and 0%... hehehe :D

Now is the time to buy if you can. I was just quoted $39,998 plus tax of $1342.09 for a 2020 Tacoma TRD PRO 6 speed manual with a sticker of $45870.00 I have the quote and agreement just trying to figure out shipping right now. Dealers are in a bind and a sale is a sale. This is in Florida.

It varies by state. California hasn't restricted dealerships, instead they have left that decision up to the local county/cities to manage. Only a handful of counties/cities have restricted dealerships. Almost all the Toyota dealerships by my house are open. They must really be hurting since I'm getting a lot quicker e-mail responses from all of their internet "Directors" and "Managers". :anonymous:

I wonder if the dealers are more desperate on the late model used that they actually own as opposed to new that Toyota is possibly giving them some extended flooring on?
