Oh no. Shes house trained. She will sit at the door when she needs to relieve herself. Shes on her 1st rag. I dont want her locked in her crate. She we only have her in her crate if we are gone. And even then, i leave the door open and she will sleep till we get back.

There are several beliefs most having to do with development. The same is true for males. There are even some folks who believe you shouldn’t spay or neuter as it leads to problems later in life.

idk what the “right” answer is. Riley was neutered early on.

 

According to my breeder (he's been doing this for 40 years) he says, as Ian mentioned above, that it's developmental, but having to do with hormones. He believes that if the right juices aren't allowed to flow for the first two to three years a female will, potentially, become a crazy bitch. Made sense to me given what I've seen of human females.

For male dogs it's a matter of whether or not you believe that cancer is a factor. Some vets say cut them, others say not necessary. 50/50

Which leads me to a thought. Why not just give a male dog a vasectomy? Why remove the whole package? There's no way in hell I'd have gotten snipped if the doc told me he was taking both my nuts.

 

Some schools of thought that the removal tames aggressive males. I don't have any personal evidence of this theory. As to your point about a vasectomy, it's a good question. Would have to research.
