I blame @CowboyTaco who got me thinking about ubolt flip kits...
Y’all got recommendations on practical, reliable, and affordable kits?
Do I really need new bump stops too? Seems like that adds a lot more $$$

Anyone got an 05-15 MGM short bed passenger side bedside for me? Can be already cut for HC bumper or have damage on the bottom of the bedside towards the rear since I’ll be cutting that off anyways.

IMO going with a flip kit makes the rear look clean, but that’s about the only benefit unless you’re spending a lot of time playing in the rocks (as in boulders). It reduces things to get hung up on and makes sense if you’re relocating the shocks. Did this on past Tacoma’s that were more aggressive. But as you said, the decent bump stops aren’t cheap either.

Expect about $200-250 however you piece it together, if you go with nice bump stops.

Dude! You’re not pulling that with a plunger or suction cup! LOL. There are a couple of Tacoma’s being parted on CL. I think by the same company...might call them

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I say you leave it and continue to wheel.
You need to UTE that thing you wheel it so hard.
Looks like you got to keep your tail light.

I think I can get the majority of it out by pulling the cubby in the bed but it’ll still look super lumpy

The thought is there... it’s just dumb bad lol. I’ve been soooo careful up until this point and have invested tons to avoid body damage. BUT I knew knew knew it was inevitable doing what I do so I’m not really upset about it. I’ll probably just bang it out best I can and passively search for a bedside. My luck would be I fix it and same thing happen next trip hahaha

Yeah, my FJ80 was straight at first, then replaced two quarter panels, painted them, then lost the same rear which you can’t do anything for.
I did my body work as I have a BFA and fuck it...then ran the same side down the same the trail later that year. That time I busted out my rear side window and tail light.
At the end of this madness I decided the FJ was to be a trail rig and that is the way it stayed...
UNTIL... I sold it to my buddy who did extensive body work, painted it, and then rashed it up on the trail again ;)

you see where this is going:anonymous:

May I recommend some hoops on the sides of your rear bumper. I know they are not as sleek looking, but they can help. I have also seen them bent into a bed, but I think that was on a home built bumper.

I hear what you’re saying, and honestly the thought has crossed my mind before.

    BUT

I gotta pay this thing off before we reach that level...

After it’s paid off my thoughts have been to buy a third gen for a DD and mildy build it, and throw a solid axle under the 2nd gen. But that’s way down the road lol

Take a look at a mini truck ‘85 for a rig. You can find them already built for 4k-6k.
But I do like the idea of a 2nd gen truggy back halfed on 60s. I have been tempted to do similar, however I would want to go 42s, which I would then been the TacoBox or a v8.

a lot of bad ass stuff
@Gilmorec61 the bedside bars help on the bumper not sure if it’s an option to have someone add some to your bumper or not They won’t protect your bedside from everything, but I know my bedsides would look a lot worse without them Anyhow, glad to see you are getting some trail time during this time. Be safe out there.

    I got mine from Toytec.

You can get the superbumps, which seem to be the best but are also pricey.

The other option is the energy suspension ones, but that requires drilling the frame. I was not ok with this route the first time, but am close to doing it.

Any of y’all see the hi-lift for sale in the GA Classifieds?
I want to buy (invest in) this NOW but can it be used anywhere on a stock 3rd gen??? Maybe on the trailer hitch? Need input from you experts out there... thx

I wouldn't get one unless you have steel bumpers or sliders. There's not really a safe place to Hi-Lift from on a stock truck to my knowledge.

F-150’s in the shop yet again, so they gave me one of the anti-Tacoma’s as a loaner. I’ll admit it’s pretty high tech as far as a mid-grade truck goes. Being in a mid-size makes me miss my 2G Taco though.

i had a '06 fx4 f150 that i bought with 100k miles on it. spent like 6k on repairs in 2 years before I sold it. never would buy again unless it was really low miles and wouldnt plan to keep it past 100k.

This time it’s for the cold start rattle. I’m 99% sure it’s what’s described in SSM 48445 (replace all 4 VCT assemblies). Last time was because the fog housings started cracking from the inside out. Before that it was because there’s a loud ratcheting sound when letting off the gas (which they never actually fixed, just gave me paperwork saying it’s normal).
