    Eventually want to do a lift in my rear but I also need new shocks but atm I’m not in the position to spend money to get shocks as well as the lift, so I want to start out with the shocks and I have a few questions.

    Can I get shocks that are compatible with a lift and also can be ran on a non-lifted setup? I was looking on rock auto and I think I saw that KYB sold a pair you could do this with that were also lift compatible. Question with these thou is if I would then start to ride really stiff since the shocks are meant for a lift.

    basically I’m wondering if I’m able to get some shocks that I can run for the moment without a lift and then have them work for when I lift my rear.

    if I can’t do this, does anyone have some recommendations on any rear shocks that ride well but aren’t too expensive? (Don’t really want to go over 40$ a shock rn)

    What's your goal with your lift?

    I ask because we could recommend you shocks for your lift, and you can go on without installing said shocks until you receive the remainder of your components.

    I've got coilovers, a winch, and upper control arms all brand new in my closet since last year...it's ok to wait.

    With that being said, what kind of lift do you plan on going with? Leaf pack? Deaver? Alcans? Dakar?

    I wouldn't suggest a shock meant for a lifted vehicle because they will have a longer compressed length. Pair that with bottoming out said shock on a non-lifted vehicle and you've just ruined your new shock.

    probably going to end up going with the AAL because it’s the most budget friendly option for me as far as I know, and for rear shocks I want to go with bilstein 5100’s to possibly match the front but I may just go with these

    Look, if you're having budget woes, and are considering a pair of $70 shocks, seriously, just save up the $160 for some 5100s. 5100s are good for a 1-3" lift, although iirc there are some 5100s that are good for 0-2" lift. So it really just depends on how much you are intending to lift your truck.

    Just for reference, I spent a whopping total of <$400 to lift my truck (the first time). 5100s all around, and longer shackles for the rear. Front was set on the middle clip re-using my stock springs. All told about 1" lift.

    Also, I would consider checking out one or several of the many off-road vendors on this site, Wheeler's Off-Road is a great one, Downsouth motorsports, Headstrong, etc... You'll get FAR better options for your Toyota than from a company that I've only ever seen advertise in between mud bogs and the mullet competition on PowerNationTV.

    Yes, there was one tiger in a zoo that tested positive. it's nice to know we're testing tigers, when there are humans that still can't be tested.

    Dogs can for sure transmit it, which is why it's a bad idea to let that nice old lady pet your dog.

    Linking him the shocks he had in mind is different than suggesting what he really should do which was the point of this thread anyway.

    Spend enough time searching vendors for an item you want, and you'll find someone selling it at a decent price. That shouldn't warrant a thread really.
