I profited on the sale earlier this morning. I just wish I would have gotten my put entered because now they’re expensive.. I was too busy watching youtube to make sure I was doing it right lmao

 

missing one chance is worth knowing you’re doing it right. Better to be a bit more knowledgeable on the whole thing and be able to do the next one right than mess up this one.

 

I read it. I really think that this behavior has a lot to do with the majority of Americans relying on a 401k now to retire. They almost HAVE to pump the markets in order for people to be able to retire. It won't end well, unless they bite the bullet and let it crash and price discovery begin again. That would be painful, and would wreck an entire generation's retirement, so I'm sure it won't happen.

 

This is a leftover sell order from the previous "the recessions over evreyone panicked for no reason" 2day rally we had.

 

Go look at SALT. Imagine putting money into that yesterday...

Sold GMRE for short term fat turn. Still hold MPW that I bought at a deep discount and is a better company.

Tempted to take other profits but sitting on my hands.

 

How are you getting around the settled funds rules?

 

I see what you are asking. I have cash o' plenty and in one account I can use "margin" which is really margin light with Fidelity IRA.

 

My brokerage will let me buy a stock with unsettled funds from the sale of another stock (if the stock sold had been held for a while and had itself settled as a purchase).

The time I got caught up was when the stock I sold to get those funds was bought with unsettled funds (freeriding rule violation).

That's a little confusing..

 

Fidelity Margin light allows this. As the system sees the funds are coming.

 

Slowly making my way back up. I'm still down $73K since the peak, but at the low point I was down $170K so it's progress. I doubt we'll get back to the mid Feb stock market level this year. I have plenty of time to wait for it to climb back up so no big deal. As long as I keep getting the dividends paying out, I don't have any plans to touch anything.

 

I am down about $32k as of now, have climbed back a lot. I was just thinking to myself, should a $4k up day be exciting (because it is) when I am down so much?!

Feeling the same. I think it’s still exciting considering I feel I’ll be even better off when the markets get back. This was just a good opportunity. If you feel good buying when it’s down, certainly be excited on the climb back up

 

I didn't get to buy nearly as much as I wanted. I expected a quick recovery, but I was thinking it would take a lot longer than this, maybe cheaper stocks for a year or so. It's already getting expensive again lol

 

I think we will have a buying opportunity again around the end of this year. Especially if everything opens backs up, less people are hired and demand drops, couple that with layoffs in the fall from the companies that took a bailout I'm pretty sure it will drop again. It will go crazy if the virus flares back up again in the fall. Hope I'm wrong. I'm holding my positions after today and keeping cash on hand until after things open back up again.

I think the opportunity after the SIPs are lifted will be a trading opportunity.
