Part of me thinks this is outrageous!

Another part of me is jealous.

Yet another is waiting on the news story of a man who just snaps and shoots motherfuckers in line at the store who keep violating the 6-foot social distancing rule while coughing.

The last little bit is afraid it will be me.

 

If people still can't count to 20 and get in the correct checkout line, they surely can't count 6 feet.

 

All the local stores put floor markings to indicate 6ft. Looks like the six-sigma peddlers got to them all.

 

Shit, that doesnt even work. Had a mother fucking old lady crawl up my ass. I turned around and told her its for her fucking protection more than mine. I'll likely live through it.

She didnt like how I talked to her but she backed the fuck off me.

 

There's a 95 year old woman in my area still going about her business like nothing is happening. She claims she's lived through worse outbreaks and isn't worried.

 

Hey man, I remember when St. Helens erupted. There were a couple of them old coots up on the mountain that said the same thing. Look how that turned out for them.

Harry Randall Truman, 83, became somewhat of a folk hero in the weeks leading up to the eruption after he refused to vacate his home near Mount St. Helens despite being urged to leave by officials.

Truman, who owned a lodge on Spirit Lake for more than 50 years, gave colorful interviews to the press.

"I'm going to stay right here because, I'll tell you why, my home and my (expletive) life's here," he told National Geographic in an interview before the disaster. "My wife and I, we both vowed years and years ago that we'd never leave Spirit Lake. We loved it. It's part of me, and I'm part of that (expletive) mountain," he said.

Edna, Truman's wife, had died a few years before the eruption, National Geographic reported.

Numerous news organizations interviewed Truman, who lived alone at the lodge with 16 cats. But after the eruption May 18, his home was hit by a mud and snow avalanche and completely covered. His remains were never found.

A fireman named Fred Johns watched the eruption through a telescope.

"When I saw that big slide hit, I said to myself, 'If Harry Truman and his 16 cats were alive in that lodge, they aren't now,'" Johns told Oregon'sThe Bulletin in a 1980 interview.

 

I remember that too.

The thing about old people though is that their priorities change. Long term survival isnt part of their plan anymore, nor is picking up the pieces to rebuild. They know they dont have a lot of time no matter what, so they tend to prefer maintaining their current quality of life in the face of their own peril. If they want a month of happiness vs a year of depression, I'm not going to judge them for that decision.

 

His cats, however, wish things had gone a bit differently.
