if I do I'm hoping I'll be one of the 20 - 30% of people that get it but are asymptomatic the entire time. Problem is though, since I live with my wife and daughter I have to be extra careful because who knows how they might react if they get it.

Getting the worst of it seems pretty awful, you basically suffocate to death because your lungs fill with mucus. Don't want none of that, though if you're young and otherwise healthy chances are you won't get it that bad.

You're right about one thing, a surgical procedure mask, a f-ing hacked up t-shirt, a bandanna, a home-made mask none of those things will offer you any kind of protection. What they will do is help a sick person coughing or sneezing from spraying their shit everywhere which will help with further exposure.

As for a respirator - will absolutely help protect you as long as you know how to use them properly (fitment, donning and doffing, etc).

Well, like everyone else we're all feeling the same. It's going to be longer than we all want to accept and yep, everyone has a breaking point. Changed reality - this is the new normal for now. Income? Yeah, everything is changing (see below)

    nailed it

on the hazmat gear, I hear Dallas has a source lol

Some people think their time is worth more than X amount of pay, or their just waiting for the stimulus check.

Or they just don’t want to work

Gotta remember the media is only gonna talk about the worst of it to drum up a panic (mission accomplished lol). I really think its nowhere near as bad as were being led to believe it is.

    :crapstorm:

Shits been here since December at least imo.

First one, I get it. But they'd make more working somewhere they don't want to versus unemployment in most cases. Hell, get a second job to make up for that extra income you're lacking.

For the second one, yeah, those are the lazy fucks that probably don't contribute to society anyway.

unfortunately for a lot of people this is a huge reality check that they really need to strive to live below their means until they have a 'rainy day fund' put aside for times like this...these are the rainy days. Can't rely on a $1200 stimulus check and minimal unemployment benefits to get you by for months on end.

    This.

I really do feel for those with families and having to worry about health insurance.

Being on unemployment means if you were going through work for health insurance, you're technically no longer covered right?

I know/heard of a few people that had all the symptoms to a T. Failed flu tests and were labeled as having bronchitis.

I never got tested but I had something that the normal OTC meds wouldn’t help

You can hang on to your health insurance for a certain amount of time after getting laid off, it's a program called COBRA I believe. I read about it when I got hired several years back, something about how you get to retain your health insurance for another month or so after youre laid off (don't quote me on the details). But you don't lose it right away which is good.

I think you still have to pay out of pocket to maintain it though. Last experience with it was like $1500 a month or something out of pocket to maintain my previous employer's coverage

yeah that makes sense, probably still have to pay into it like you did when you were working (I pay $80 a month out of my salary for mine, employer subsidizes the rest). I picked some mediocre HMO since I rarely go to the doctor

No. What I will remember are first hand accounts from nurses in the family - one in Seattle @ Swedish. Had to listen to that one crying and stressed from the experience of walking in and seeing a shit ton of people that looked like ghosts plugged into vents. Not just old or people with previous issues. They are young and healthy yet they all end up in the same place. How the hell do you comfort someone who is scared shitless about going into work because of lack of protective gear? How do you comfort them when they tell you about their co-worker who just tested positive? Yeah, its real.

I'll be quiet now. Everyone believes what they choose and that's cool too.

Yeah I know it's always paid at least 1 calendar month ahead, but after that, you no longer qualify since you're out said job with said company.

Not an issue for me, just really puts things into perspective about how others are struggling.

Yeah I have 2 or 3 salesman that were paying in excess of $1200-1600/month just for health insurance and their families.

Those are the few I was referring to, but since they're not with us, if this goes on for another month or so...I'm afraid they won't be covered?
