Got wiring re-routed, clutch tw-routed and everything else buttoned up just in time to get a ride in before the rain started.

I’m going to wait until I ride with these bars for awhile before I throw on forward controls. These bars make the bike feel a lot different but I like it. I still have the rear fender to paint and put on, but that’s going to have to wait until everything dies down.

    Mods are done, for now…

edit: I take it back. Looking at these pictures, I’ve got to do something with the plug wires above the engine. Back to modding…

Out riding now but parked the bike in a nearby park so I could stop and wait for my adrenaline to go down.
I was just overtaken by somebody in a Grand Cherokee on a double yellow at 50 MPH, which means they probably sped up to 70 to perform that super illegal and dangerous stunt. Had there been an oncoming vehicle, guess where the Jeep would’ve gone?

It scared the shit out of me, I just need to sit here and breathe for a while.

About? The plug wires? I like the bike overall but I’d personally go for shorter bars for aesthetic balance (just my opinion). Then again if @LocoLocal is about my height then those would probably be way more comfortable to ride with.
I’ve always been a fan of tasteful, minimalist sportys. They don’t need much but they’re like the AR15 or the v-twin world. So many aftermarket accessories that the sky is the limit with whatever each owner wants to do the them. I still want another one. My partner wants to learn to ride and I’m pushing her towards an iron 1200.

    Ah,

    :notsure:

It looks cleaner, but there are also ways of cleaning up the stock wiring without moving anything. Cable management in general is something I think does a lot for anything electrical. Clean routing, not having wires cross over each other unnecessarily and appropriate looming cleans up a lot the factory stuff.

It’s an awesome bike. I have enjoyed it more than I thought I would to be honest. I had a sport bike then went to a Sportster then back to a sport bike and now back again.

I had 8” bars and they had me too hunched over. These are much more comfortable and I prefer the taller look of bars.

I’ve got ideas but don’t have the tools to do it. I’ll have to bring it by at some point when it is allowed.

There are some awesome write ups on xlforum and chopcult. Gets rid of something like 50% of the wires, big looms, connectors, etc.

He has dual coils. Not like the standard lowly Sportsters. Do you see the resi on his rear shocks?

Was trying to capture some more falling rain drops in the image, alas I was rushed and had to get back in the house for a meeting. Hoping it pours tonight so I can capture something better. Turned out ok for my first time shooting rain

you took your bike out in the rain on purpose...!!!???

    :boom:

@MagtechPA you should invest in a helmet cam to capture all of these encounters!!! I know I often think about it and regret not having it every time something whacky happens....

I gotta say though, Long Island is a very high transit flow area and all this stay at home order has been absolutely amazing for my motorcycle commute, I have never felt safer :anonymous:
