The only thing that scares me about them is that they haven’t been on the market for a super long time- which could be a good thing as well as a bad. They’re growth seemed kind of flat after IPO which is not typically what you want in a company, BUT the fact that it stayed positive after the IPO is a good thing. A lot of times after the first few quarters of financials are released on a new IPO the value depreciates depending on the outcome.

Right now, at the current dividend rate and market cap, if FUN was to continue to pay the current dividend, it would cost them 161.41% of their net income. You can go to different websites and look this up, usually called a payout ratio (I use the Seeking Alpha app for this). I am not saying they won’t pay it, but they’d either have to use cash reserves or debt to do it. I think, with them not getting any income, a temporary dividend cut is likely. It would be very temporary I think, just until they can start making money again.

You can go to CNBC.com, look up the ticker, and it will show you. I have these apps on my phone to follow that kind of thing: CNBC, Seeking Alpha, and StockMaster. Usually, volume is low, so the bid ask spread can be high after hours. That means, in the simplest terms, you may not get a good price. I don’t buy, just watch, after hours prices.

Are they obligated in any way to pay a dividend?
Like do they have to pay a dividend for the current period and announce a suspension for the next? Or can they do whatever they want with paying it?

I am not sure when they can just say screw it, we aren’t paying. I’d keep an eye on the ex-dividend date for the next payout. If we pass that date, it should be paid. If they cut, it should be before that date.

Do they fire the same rounds as the M2? If so, you can really blow through some money on that gun.

    thank you. :hattip:

Question about dividends. If a stock pays a dividend on X date, how long do you have to retain that stock in order to receive said dividend? Can you sell the day after X date or how does this work?

As long as you own the stock on the Holder of Record date you'll get the dividend. You can buy a day before and sell the day after if you want.

I just copied this from Google (dividend.com):

Another important note to consider: as long as you purchase a stock prior to the ex-dividend date, you can then sell the stock any time on or after the ex-dividend date and still receive the dividend. A common misconception is that investors need to hold the stock through the record date or pay date.

The Holder of Record is the day immediately following the ex-dividend date. lol

I just copied and pasted that. I am actually confused now.

Your post above says as long as you own the stock on the Holder of Record date...

Mine says you can sell on the ex-dividend date and get the dividend (so you wouldn’t have owned it on the Holder of Record date)...

Did I post bad info? I honestly don’t know, only the pay date has ever mattered to me.

Let's say April 7th is the ex-div date. You have to have purchased the stock on, or before, that day. The HOR date would be the 8th. That's when the company records who to give dividends to. As long as you meet both you get a dividend. You might be able to sell the stock on the HOR date but I would just wait to the next day. I honestly don't know of anyone that chases divs in that way though. I'll math it out tomorrow and see if I can come up with a scheme similar to laddered CD's. lol

I mean I could write a program which does that but to do it manually would be a hell of a thing. I don’t know could you try to automate this with limit buys or something?

Now I’m curious. Please share the math when you’re done. I’m just lazy and don’t want to run the math on my own :rofl:
