In all honesty I think $50 is on the low side. I would bump up the wood knobs a bit and buy some Delrin that you can quickly make some lower priced $50 shift knobs out of. Just a though! Beautiful though!

i havent turned delrin, but I'd be willing to give it a shot. I like that wood is renewable and I use the sawdust for firestarter or for the chickens, so that would be a drawback with the plastic.

I'm thinking about ordering some exotic wood as well, but that would definitely run a little bit more.

Did you know the polished wooden knobs found on Lexus models will fit Toyota’s ?
Found them for sale on eBay new and used. The prices range from about 15 bucks up to 35 with the statement to make offer. They use different kinds of exotic wood to get colors. Some of the others have shift patterns built in for manuals 5 speed and 6 speed. I found these about a year ago after the leather wrapped shift knob on my X Runner was showing excessive wear. The Lexus 330 is direct replacement for Tacoma w/automatic, looks great installs in seconds.

if factory made is what youre looking for. on the other hand, i'm someone who finds so much more value in something hand made, especially when i'm using it every time i drive.

How about just epoxying a timecert (not sure I'm spelling that correctly, but it's the solid version of a heli coil) into it?

Very, very nice work! I said fair price in the poll but now I think you may be selling yourself short. As much as I would like one for $50, you gotta make it worth your time. Nicely done.

That’s nice too. Here’s what pushed me over the edge to buy a replacement. It’s hard enough to find someone that can drive manual transmission but before I could say WTF a guy working at tire store couldn’t find reverse on my truck because shift pattern was worn off shift knob. Whatever knob you sell consider putting that on the knob or a sticker to go near by. Did you even bother to look at the competition? Look at what they are offering then build a better mousetrap. best of luck to you

Remember the old Nardi shift knobs from back in the day? They were all the rage at one time.

I’d absolutely be interested do you think you’d be able to etch the 5 speed shift pattern in?

I’d be interested in the shorter of the 2.

I recently installed a hurst core ss. It has a 3/8-16 thread for their knob. An issue with their ss kit is that the height is a bit tall. So if you made some that the knob can screw on down deep so the threads are deep into the knob to reduce the overall height some, the guys that have the hurst would snatch them up.

well the second one took a lot less time to make than the first (once i had figured out the process).

second one all in all probably took 3.5 hours, but that time will definitely go down as i get quicker at making them.

i dont think id be able to etch the pattern in well, but ill definitely do some research about finding a pattern on a circular insert that i could glue in flush.
