In addition I know that hospital has one of those stations that has all different plugs in the lobby.

If she cant get the issue solved, there is always old school...Gasp!...Dial the room phone and actually talk.

We use to have one in the ER lobby. It lasted about a week before people started arguing about it. We put it in storage.
    She'll have a charged phone in a bit :D

We had to get vents from the vet school. Welcome to socialized medicine.

Let’s choose who gets to live based on arbitrary numerical values.

I didn't say it was right.
I'm also of the thought we as a society need to learn to accept death. I see plenty of 90+ nursing home pts that have no clue they are in this world, yet the family still has them as a full code. Terminal brain cancer...full code, hospice pt....full code, 99yr old that is bed bound with no knowledge of what's going on around her......full code.

It was bound to happen. If this covid does play out to the worst case scenario, there won't be enough vents to go around. I'm glad I don't have to judge who gets one.

Another point. Say a DC hospital was completely out of vents and one of the "elites" needed it. Do you think there's any chance in hell that a vent pt wouldn't take a "turn" for the worse and not make it? They'd have that poor SOB of the vent before they took their last breath so the "elite" could have it. This country has always chosen the more important people over the average ones.

If it comes down to truly not having the supplies, I have no problem with there being guidelines. With that said, if you have a 75yr Gov and a 30yr normally healthy person. The younger one should get it. The fact is, the average stay on a vent for a covid pt is a little over 3 weeks. Older folks don't seem to do well after that amount of time, their survival rate is a lot worse.

I’m glad I’m not in the position of having to make that choice either. But it hit home with my son. I see many adults like him but due to family or lack of family they are wards of the state. Makes me wonder where they’d fall if push came for shove on needing vents. And no doubt they’d find a vent is some big wig needed one.

I’d rather those vents go to pets instead of most people.

If I find something someone does that I like watching I just go to their page and watch their videos. Keeps me (mostly) from going astray.

Yup the key is to get the pt off the vent as soon as possible or it becomes harder to ween them off it.
