As a 2.7 owner who wants a snorkel for AZ dust and mall crawler points, I wish I had an option for any snorkel.

Just have to adapt it to suit your airbox.

Yeah, I had planned that. The 2.7 has a smaller diameter inlet so I just need to figure out something to fill the gap firmly.

I would think PVC pipe reductors would probably be the best bet

I took a peek at my air box and it appears to be within a inch or two of the V6. I'm sure someone has done it and if you wait a month or so, I will.....lol. I got no problem cutting a hole in a brand new truck. Lol

My first thought is AEM makes some turbo cold side reducers that are flexable. I've not looked at this but I'm 99% sure it's doable. China has some but I don't need a cold or flu right now.

I estimate the 2.7 is about an inch or so smaller. I wasn't able to get the most accurate measurement. That would create a significant gap which could create problems for water-tightness

It'll be a bit before I pull the trigger, certainly. I figure it just needs a nice rubber gasket, but that reducer could do the trick as long as it isn't too long to complicate things. I know @Taka The Tacoma fit the ARB Safari (dirty word in this thread, sorry Mike!) but he's gone dark for the time being so I don't know what he did to make it work.

This is the way (Mando)... Seriously, though... Installed my brothers snorkel on his 80series using this method and fit up is perfect... the template is garbage when you factor in *user experience / error*

Just found out about this snorkel option for my turd gen... Beats shelling out the crazy cash for ARB

My snorkel came in Saturday, i put the template up against the snorkel body and the holes are still off...sigh. Made adjustments to the template and still ended having to open all the holes a little more than i planned. Install time was about on track for what the instructions said it should take, i think it was a little over 3 hours. The hose is honestly the worst part of the install. All in all im pretty happy with how it turned out, other than the fact that now i have to buy new ditch light brackets, since my rago low pros won't mount up correctly now (not anyone's fault, just is what it is)

Thanks for the heads up. I, too have Rago ditch light mounts... Guess I'll have to heat them up and bend that one to clear.

As for the holes on the template not lining up, could it be the template didn't line up on the physical snorkel because the template is made to follow the contours of the body work?

Did you modify the template before using it, or did you use it as recommended and find that you still had to open up some of the holes?

    Install looks great BTW

Installed mine yesterday... Um, it took a little over 1.5hrs.... I was shocked at how quickly we were able to put this thing on.

And people 16mm is 5/8 of an inch! That’s how big Dobinson wants you to make the mounting holes.... that gives you so much room for play....

The template holes were okay, with the bottom left hole slightly off... You find out when you put the template up to the snorkel before install... still made it without opening up the holes more than the required 16mm...

For those that were curious, like I was, my rago fab ditch light mounts cleared the snorkel. The Rigid light just needed to be loosened and moved over max in adjustment...

Oh and the elbow wasn’t as bad as people made it seem to be.... awkward to make up to the snorkel but nothing to cry about... I feel the most frustrating part of the WHOLE ordeal was taking the stupid clips that hold the wheel liner on.... fuck those things

I was planning on taking all kinds of photos.... thing went in so fast, that didn’t happen LOL

here are a few after pics (shitty cell pics

Had this thing setting in the garage for a long while. Finally got around to getting it installed. Like everyone has suggested, you gotta measure 20 and cut once....ish. The template was a clam chowder hoagie. Followed step #6 three times, but only two holes were even close. Ended up boring out the holes. Dobinsons should really take a strong look at this thing and get a new template out there if they haven’t already.19E07DAD-B22D-4D1C-A9A7-468F44BC32B2.jpg A54AB7EC-360F-4A3A-8974-44624EFFCCEB.jpg

Why are there no stainless steel snorkel kits available for the Taco in the States? There seems to be a few stainless steel snorkel kits available for the Aussie's including the Hilux and Ranger Down-under (not to mention they get the diesels too). Would prefer a stainless steel version since it looks way cooler than the plastic kits available, not to mention more durable. Some of our smaller fabricator companies in the US might want to prototype one since I bet they would be a hot sell for this community.

What's the gap between the a pillar and the snorkel? Can you get pics of that? If you don't mind.
