Yea the top, bottom, and sides are pallet slats and the frame is all the runners cut down ran through the planer and sanded. Its about 2 1/2 pallets worth probably.

That's a lot of surfacing work to just paint over it..tell her you'll "paint" it with some oil-based stain

HAHAHA Yes it was and I tried. Even showed her a peace I had used some of that on. But she didn't like it. Our cat is named Freddy after Freddy Krueger and she wants it painted black and she wants to get tattoo artist buddy of ours to paint claw scratches and the name on it..... Ugh! I'm think I'm gonna try and just go get some plywood make another and have her paint that one!

That's married life. My wife constantly takes my plywood and makes "signs" out of it. (Some) Women seem to enjoy little artsy things even more than solid craftsmanship and work. Whatever makes her happy though!

My wife is one heck of an artist, if she will draw it I will cut it out of wood or metal and watch her do her magic. I can't draw a straight line with a straight edge. Happy spouse, happy house

I'm am turning that into a sign and hanging it discreetly in the house. I want to see how long it will take her to notice.

Back on the woodworking topic real quick, where do you guys get your hardwood? Most of my projects are from interior S4S pine (Lowes/HD) or cypress (for outdoors). About put a lot of time into a sewing desk for the wife (MT joints, lap joints, minimal fasteners), so i'll bite the bullet and get some red oak for it.

Big blue and big orange carry dimensional oak, but they've got a limited supply. Anyone been to an 84 Lumber?

Where are you in NC? I go to West Penn hardwoods, they sell online, but I go pick out my stuff from their warehouse. They’re in Conover, right beside Hickory. Worth stopping in if you’re close, and they’re still open right now too.

I have pretty much no options here in DE, Lowes an home depot just has red oak and poplar. Every once in a while I get a poplar pallet. We do have a Woodcraft store about an hour from me but its so pricey. I know there are a bunch of stores online again its just pricey.
