Are you happy with your current configuration?
Are you planning on getting a Gen3 or waiting to see what the Gen 4 looks like?
What do you think the Gen4 will be like? What engines will be offered?
What are you hoping will be offered?
My bet is on all new engines. No more 2.7 4 cylinder. That'll be replaced by a 2.5L(A25A)
The main engine will be a new 3.5L V6 (V35A) naturally aspirated. They may also offer a turbo charged version of the A25A. Im thinking we're going to see close to 30 mpg too.
What are you guys hoping for?

Same here. I'm at 147k, and hoping to hit at least 250k before even thinking about moving on to anything else. So if it brings me to 2024-2025 I'll see whats around.

I'm in no hurry to trade mine in either. I'd like to make it to 2027 at least.

In regards to the evolution of body styles and engines over the past few gens: If one doesn't currently like the 3rd gens, I don't have much hope for the 4th gen Tacomas.

Toyota has been pretty mediocre in the style department since the 90s. These days they're going way too hard on the bulbous plastic lights for me.

I have more trucks than I need at the moment and nothing on the market right now appeals to me, and certainly not enough to spend the money they want.

I liked when trucks just were trucks. Style is for sports cars. Form follows function.

Next truck may be a 3/4 ton to tow my Taco as it continues to evolve.

To a point I agree, but they have to make them some shape, and that shape isn't 100% dictated by function, so they have to have some sort of style to define it.

It was all downhill after the 69-72 GM trucks IMO. :D

I would say Toyota is leaps and bounds ahead of Ford or Chevy in terms of styling. The new Camry looks good, the Tacoma is the best looking mid size truck available (the rest look like mini van front ends) and the 4runner is the best looking SUV around. The Lexus's all look good.

I don't think Toyota is going to add turbos to anything. They are staying NA because they are all about reliability and that is what their brand is. Personally, I think the only thing the third gen offers more than my truck is a better interior with leather seats and Apple carplay. Other than that I don't see myself wanting to upgrade to a third gen. I like the 4.0 and I don't think the 3rd gen is the same Tacoma that Toyota built their name on- there is a reason Toyota of Japan is keeping the 4.0 in the 4Runner and won't change it. That's just my opinion.

I will probably keep this truck until I have kids and need a full size. Even then I am hoping I can keep it parked in the driveway and build it up into a weekend toy. We will see

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
I only have 135K miles on mine which is nothing for these trucks so no plans on trading it in.
I did throw an Pioneer CarPlay head unit in this spring.

No more 4 cyl / 5 speed combo? Safety non-Sense is now standard? Next new truck will likely be a used one. Will keep my 2011 on the road as long as possible.

New tech is what drives me away from new vehicles. With that said, I'll never replace this truck with another. If I do, it'll be bare bones. Lane guidance, auto start / stop, auto climate, etc is all bullshit to me.

I like the current Tundra over the 3rd gen Tacoma. That's probably what I'd buy if I was in the market for a new truck. I'd finance it now and figure out how to pay for it later.

LOL, yeah those were cool. I'm not saying I want to drive around a truck that looks like a tractor, all utility, with a bench seat or anything. But it's gotten silly. Especially interiors, way too complicated. That's where over-the-road and work trucks still get it right. You need a way to accommodate accessories like radios without blocking climate controls or hitting your hand every time to shift into 5th gear.

The new tundras will likely have a turbo charged version of the V35A 3.5 V6

Yeah modern interiors... what trip those are. It seems like some of them are pulling back from touchscreens everywhere idea, so I still have hope.

All I really want is a double din slot and maybe a single din for a radio...

The next Tundra will probably be nice. I think it will be very F-150 like only better because it's a Toyota.

The current one is dated but I like the 5.7 I would like to have one as an end of an era vehicle.

I'd like my next truck to be an all electric torquey tow beast. Maybe by 2027 when I'm ready for a new truck they'll have something good to offer.
