That angle iron constructing the frame is entirely too thick

 

I have a 4 runner that already has the identical tundra setup i was just wondering about my options when i lift

 

If I could do it over again I'd go thinner. I got Dakar leafsprings so the sag shouldn't be too bad. I've already reinforced the frame.

 

What are the dimensions of that angle anyway?

 

Over the last couple weeks been working on a few things. Built a bed platform, redid my roof bars, added carpet to the tailgate, and painted the grill to match the new headlights.

Months and months ago I made this shifter from a tool handle found in the trash and a leftover tiles from a job site.

 

Still able to boulder where you are? every thing is closed here.

 

@chowwwww I mean, yeah. A little solo sesh yesterday won't hurt anybody. Knowing the spots helps, yesterday's has very low traffic. I haven't even visited any of the bigger areas near me lately. Hopefully soon I will do some scouting on em tho- got those sport projects to get back to.

 

Thats Monte's truck. Mine is the one with the reservoir hose that's too short for the reservoir to sit properly. I still have the stock brakes on mine

 

On a 4Runner, you're all set; nothing you need to do with a "normal" lift. (If you're going drop-bracket or something, that might be different)

The hard line to the caliper is anchored to the spindle, so not affected by lift. The soft line from the frame to spindle still goes through the same range of motion with a lift that it would in your normal setup, since a lift just changes the ride height of the truck, not the range of motion.

(Range of motion is limited by the geometry of the upper and lower control arms with the spindle, and those don't change meaningfully - even with aftermarket UCAs - with a lift.)

Gotcha. Monte definitely went with #2 . And ran doubled up crush washers for a time too, as I recall since his banjo bolts were too long, hahahaha.

 

Been itching to go out, but trying to stay away from the outdoor spots since they're mostly small towns.

 

My rule of thumb has been to avoid any boulders/areas that already have people. If I show up somewhere and there are people climbing, move on to the next spot...

I get that if everyone adopted this approach, every climbing area would be "filled," so maybe I'm taking advantage. I'm definitely not visiting any small towns though. No medical infrastructure in those places.

 

It's been leaking on passenger side for awhile, finally got the dash out to find it and now I can't get it to leak... frustrating as hell. Also while I had everything out I swapped temp guage because it quit working. Turns out to be missing some nuts on the back side.

 

That's a good way to do it id say. Here we've got a couple of crags situated throughout the hilltowns, and other than climbing (which debatably is social distancing) I have been taking social dist seriously.

 

Same here. The only reasons I leave my house are to go climbing and get groceries. I have a home wall in my garage too, so all things considered life is pretty good.

 

Yea, thats why I am avoiding small towns. There is Stoney Point in LA that would be the closet outdoor bouldering to a big city. But I am still just avoiding it.

Made some progress found my leak, it's in the windshield on the bottom then traveling down the cowl and running down by the kick panel. Question for those of you that have fixed a temperature guage problem. The guage is new and installed correctly, the temp sender on the back of the engine is new and also installed correctly, but the guage still doesn't move, any ideas is greatly appreciated thanks.

 

OK, I'm completely confused where you're going with this. You started with "what lines did you use for a [tundra brake upgrade]." Then asked if you'd need to change anything on Tundra brakes when you did a lift to your 4Runner.

With answers to both of those questions, now you're talking about some other brakes entirely... so I'm missing something somewhere. Either:

1. Why were you asking about Tundra stuff if you don't plan to run it at all? or
2. How are these '10-15 4Runner brakes you're talking about related to your first two questions?

 

Took the windows out of the camper shell, going to sand off the peeling clear coat and rough up the base coat before I hand it over for painting.
