This was my experience as well. The 5100s are inexpensive, and addressed all of these issues for me, without being too stiff. I feel they are perfect for a mix of on-road and off road, and are relatively inexpensive.

I came from a sports car background and the OR was way too soft for me. Honestly, I almost didn't get a Tacoma after test driving the OR. Thankfully the sales guy recommended the Sport to test, and it was much more to my liking. If you drive fast or aggressive, you will probably prefer a tighter sports suspension, regardless of trim package.

“Floaty” is a good way to describe it. Sometimes I’ll be like “damn, is it that windy” nope just the truck doing what it does

That was something I hated about the OR suspension, always felt like a windy day.

When they say you get more with the OR trim vs. the Sport does it usually mean the shocks? and the rest of the trim depends on ones preference? idk

i read somewhere, maybe brochure literature, Sport is better suited for highway and OR is for those wanting to go a bit of OR. I always assumed 4x4 is for offroad, not being an OR'r myself. So now I'm guessing the Sport 4x4 is geared more towards highway and snow.

just got some time on my hands for thinking here

It’s a great ride off road. I think Toyota wanted to give people a softer ride on FSRs to help them get into the hobby. A lot of people new to off road driving get panicky when hitting pots holes or ruts.

The stock OR shocks are good off road with an empty truck, but I found they faded badly once I loaded up the back. Ultimately, I prefer the ride of the 5100s all round.

Isn’t it built more for off-road? Doesn’t handle all that great on road and I’m not the biggest fan of the TDR graphics.

You're right with a bigger house you get some additional capacity for your money.

The Off Road has different suspension (softer as many have stated) and it also adds things like multi terrain select, crawl control, as well as a rear differential lock and different tires (more all terrain, however I wasn't too fond of the stock tires). It also has a larger rear differential (8.75" vs 8") on the 3rd gens.
Sport will feel more composed on road, bigger sway bar, stiffer suspension, and more "highway" tires. No idea in the difference in snow traction or snow performance, but tires play the biggest factor in it - I would guess maybe the off road would have the slight edge, but honestly it is negligible. Sports perform great off road as well, don't be fooled... 4x4 just means it is better in slicker conditions, that's it..

I don’t know that the Limited has the same exact suspension. Shocks are a different color.

In your opinion is the Pro a mix of the Off Road and the Sport(plus Graphics)? I get the shocks are Fox but i don’t know any real world context.
